Your Mt Rainier journey begins with pickup at your hotel in the SeaTac or Seattle area by coach bus or sprinter van. Enjoy a scenic drive, with your expert driver and guide narrating the views outside your window along the way. Admire Alder Lake, the quaint old logging town of Eatonville and historic train boxcars that have been repurposed.
Take a brief break at Longmire’s visitor center to explore the museum and National Park Inn. If time permits, go on a quick hike on the Trail of Shadows. Then get your camera ready for a photo op at Christine Falls, before tracing the Nisqually River up to Narada Falls, a bridal veil waterfall that is taller than Niagara.
Then comes the best part: the views at Paradise, at 5,400 feet (1,646 m) above sea level. Grab lunch here (own expense) and take in the stunning views on the southern slope of Mt Rainier and the valley below. Watch for Roosevelt elk, deer, black bear, marmots and the elusive red fox lurking around the mountain. You’ll then have the option to go snowshoeing and sledding, if weather conditions permit. During the summer, take in flower meadow vistas and enjoy an extra stop at Reflection Lake. Cap off the day by learning a bit of history at the Henry M. Jackson Visitor Center, where you can read informational displays and watch a short movie about Mt Rainier, before heading back down the mountain, concluding with drop-off at your hotel.

Fantastic trip with a great guide who was very knowledgeable. Plenty of opportunities to take pictures, stop for food and bathroom breaks. Highly recommend.
Our tour guide, Mark, was awesome. He gave us lots of information about Seattle and Mt. Rainier and made it fun with trivia games. Even though the weather was not on our side and the top of Rainier was covered, we still enjoyed the tour.
Thank you John for your knowledge in making this a memorable day! All the stops were perfect and the weather great!
My Son and I decided to take this day trip not having any idea of how much we would get to see and do. We were not disappointed! Amazing views and our tour guide John was fun and very informative!
The weather didn’t cooperate but I still thought the views and short hikes were incredible. We made plenty of stops for photography and restroom breaks. Our driver was very knowledgeable and entertaining. One caveat is that even in July you would be advised to wear shoes for trail walking, long pants and a water-repellent jacket.
We had a tour with Joe as our guide. Joe was extremely informative, humorous, and accommodating. Joe stopped for cupcakes knowing I had my two young sons with me (ages 8 and 10), and made sure they had a great time throughout the tour. Joe stopped for us to take pictures and was able to give us great inside into the area. I would highly recommend this tour!
Joe was an excellent tour guide! Van arrived on time and seating was reasonably comfortable. Great information about the history of Seattle and surrounding area as we drove to Mt. Rainier. Stopping at the grocery store was a great way to stock up on lunch supplies while saving money for souvenirs. Joe stopped at key locations for photos. We even saw moose and a black bear on our journey. Unfortunately, we didn’t see Mt. Rainier due to low clouds, but that’s not the tour’s fault. Overall, a great experience!
Tour was great. Comprehensive view of the mountains and its environs. Our tour guide Joe was fantastic. We have toured all over the world and he is one of the best we have ever had. Had snacks, water, extra clothing and even let some passengers use his very expensive camera lens for some amazing photos.
John was our guide and he was amazing. John went above and beyond making sure people had a nice time. John knew the history of the mountain and the adjoining towns which made it so much more interesting with learning fun facts along the way. John kept us on schedule so that we were able to enjoy lots of stops and I felt like we had plenty of time to see what we wanted to see. If I have any suggestions to anyone going is sit on the right side of the bus. It has most of the sites. Thank you
John for going above and beyond!!
Our driver John was the best. Loved hearing all his stories and learning about Mt. Rainier from someone who loves the mountain and surrounding area. His depth of knowledge is remarkable. Would definitely do this tour again!
A big congratulations for providing such an awesome experience. Our tour guide Joe was so informative and gave so much to the trip. Having arrived from New Zealand to Seattle hotel at 1.00am in morning, this was a great way to spend a full day in the comfort of a bus on tour. The weather really made this trip so memorable. To finish I left my jacket on the bus, so rang Customised Tours company realising that 3 days later this may be a lost item. But no Joe was in depot and checked his bus and still there. This company then returned my jacket to hotel in Seattle at no charge. So blessed. Thank you Customised Tours you were such a pleasure to deal with also in making my booking online from home.. Kind regards, Ian Gane. Tauranga New Zealand.
This trip exceeded my expectations in both value and quality, mostly due to our tour guide Joel. He was not only extremely knowledgeable and friendly, but knew all the hidden gems of the trip, including where to get the best pictures. Joel took the time to chat with us, make sure we were always comfortable on the bus, and you can really tell that he loves what he does.
For us, where we only were in the area for a short trip, this tour was the perfect amount of time to see beautiful mountain scenery. The pickups from downtown Seattle were very convenient, even if you are not staying in a hotel. Additionally, this trip is accommodating to people of all fitness levels. I would definitely recommend this for anyone visiting Seattle!
John was an excellent guide. Very knowledgable and professional. He showed us key parts of the park, stopped for photo ops, and kept us on schedule.
My husband and I took a day trip to Mount Rainier with our guide Joe and he was amazing! So very knowledgeable and took us to all the best spots. He even took the time to show us the best places to stand to get the perfect photo. I am highly impressed and would absolutely use this company for other tours.
Spectacular throughout the day with John our outstanding tour guide. Incomparable vistas - it was a cloudless day and Mt. Rainier was continuously visible in all its grandeur and majesty. Would definitely take the tour again.
Joe Pritchard was an excellent guide, kept things funny and light. Great stops, knowledge and photo opts. A+.
I would use one word to describe the trip. AMAZING. We had an excellent guide who was very courteous and knowledgeable. I don’t remember his name, but he made sure we enjoyed every moment of the excursion. He never rushed us into seeing things and made every effort to make our excursion enjoyable. I would surely recommend the trip.
My husband and I went on this tour on 6/1/19 and were very happy with the tour itself as well as our driver/guide. We had a beautiful day, weather-wise, and got to see the mountain in all its glory. Our driver, Joel, was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The tour made many stops along with way and you had enough time to get out and appreciate all that there was to see. On the way to Mt. Rainier from Seattle, Joel gave us lots of background on the area and pointed out many of the sights of interest. We left the next day on a cruise to Alaska and and took many ship based excursions but I believe Joel's tour was by far superior and was a great value as compared to what we paid on the ship for tours of three to four hours as compared to what we paid for this tour which was almost 12 hours. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
The Mt Ranier day trip was one of the best parts of our vacation. Mark the driver was wonderful and made the trip so much fun. He was funny and talkative and very informative. We saw a lot of beautiful areas we wouldn't have known about if we had driven there ourselves and just relaxing and letting someone else do the driving was absolutely the best way to go! I highly recommend taking this day trip!
