If your thinking about doing this tour I recommend it 100%. We had Nettie as our driver she was full of love, laughter and you can tell she truly loves her home land of Hawaii. Take sure you take a warm jacket, hat and gloves. They told us too and honestly I thought oh your in Hawaii it can’t be cold boy was I wrong. I ended up using another couples blanket they brought two. Breakfast at the end was good too.
This tour was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had!! The sunrise was amazing. It was totally worth getting up at 2:20am. Our tour guide Nettie was amazing! She was so inspiring and full of wisdom. Breakfast was pretty delicious too.
Preston was full of wonderful information and humorous stories- which made this early morning tour enjoyable as well as beautiful!
It was beautiful and well worth getting up for a 2am pickup! The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable!
All around wonderful experience. Tour guide was knowledgeable and interesting. Bus was comfortable. Sunrise was incredible and finished off with a delicious breakfast
Recommend anyone going to Maui to take this tour. At the top of Haleakala, it can still be chilly in the 40's in June. Dress warm and bring a cap. The sunrise views is awesome, peering through the clouds below you.
For those with a rental car, you could go back a different day for a hike around the summit. Bring enough water if you are going for the hike.
Our tour guide Glen from Polynesian tours, was very knowledgeable. He kept us informed about what to expect during our tour. Bathroom breaks, snacks, coffee, and breakfast. It was 40at the summit, so the coffee provided by the tour company was very helpful. My only advice would be to bring and insulated cup with lid, so your coffee stays warm. I will cherish this memory for years to come
Our driver was fantastic. Amazing early morning. Food good too at the golf course. Pre snacks in the early AM good too. Driver totally informative. A self 'funk and wagnal' encyclopedia of knowledge about the Islands in general. Love the driver.
Despite the early start this tour is well worth the early start. Be prepared it can be very, very cold especially before sunrise, but it is beautiful watching black turn to indigo, blue, then orange. Thaw out in the warmth of the suns first rays, and watch the stark landscape appear, as the world comes alive.
Maui Sunrise looked after us with coffee, and fantastic service.
Well worth the early morning and cold. Seeing the space station fly over was an unexpected highlight. The view was fantastic. This tour is all the more relevant after reading about Maui the Demi god
An unforgettable experience and a must do while in Maui. This is my second time taking this tour and we love it every time. The views are amazing specially if you appreciate spectacular sunrises.
Our tour driver Nettie was amazing. Because of her, we were able to have a full experience of Haleakala sunrise. The weather was somewhat cloudy but it was still beautiful and surreal. Highly recommended.
The view is AMAZING!!! Our guide was excellent -- knew exactly where to go to get the best view and be sheltered from the wind!!
This Sunrise tour was absolutely an amazing experience and so worth it. The tour leaves really early around 2am, so if you are coming in from stateside I would recommend doing the tour on your first morning as it is easier to adjust to the time difference. The tour arrives about an hour before sunrise which gives you time to take in the night sky, gazing at the stars and you can even see a few planets. It is very cold so dress warm and be sure to bundle up. Also a small flashlight is helpful for navigating before sunrise.
This trip obviously starts out very early. I suggest it be one of the first things you do after arriving in Maui so it's easier to get up so early. Wayne was a wonderful guide and extremely knowledgeable about Hawaiian history. Haleakala didn't disappoint!
