Heather was a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. A great way to spend time at the keys. I would go again!
i booked this tour for my wife's benefit. I'm 81 years old and was just a little apprehensive about doing it. I thought we would do a double kayak but no, she insisted we each had our own. The guide, Jen, gave us a short lecture on how to paddle a kayak and then had each of us launch out into the bay. It was a blast! Made me want to get my own kayak now. Would reccomend This tour to anyone.
My first time in a kayak, Peyton our guide, taught us the strokes and it was very easy to navigate the waters. The water, mangroves, and wildlife were amazing!!
This tour might be good if you happen to be one of the people who jostle for a spot next to the guide, but if you are not assertive pushy and competitive, you may end up going on a nice paddle, but with not much of a tour. Our expectation was that the number of kayaks would be limited, but there were more than a dozen kayaks singles and doubles, including one paddleboarder who slowed the whole group. We also expected to see more wildlife than we did. Maybe we were too close to the highway or the channel with jet skis whizzing by, but we saw only Pelicans these were everywhere at the dock and, when our guide produced them, a sea cucumber and a sponge. This might offer some relief from the bustle of downtown Key West, but it's probably good to keep your expectations low.
Well, I didn't want to spend my whole week cooped up in my trailer working. I needed an adventure. I spotted this Kayak Tour https://www.viator.com//Key-West-Mangrove-Kay/d661-18235P1 and signed up.
Note that although I have spent some time in a canoe, this was my first time in a kayak. And with balance being one of the skills withering away in my old age, I had trepidations, not so much fear of drowning or ruining my camera, but of embarrassing myself for falling in. Turned out that I managed to stay upright the whole trip, to a large extent due to having another person, with some kayak experience, up front. The only challenge was getting out of the kayak when the tour was over. Getting up off the floor is no longer an event i am competitive in.
Anyway, we spent a wonderful two hours paddling around and through the mangroves. Pelicans the Key West pigeon were all around the dock. Iguanas were scattered through the trees. Sponges and other sea life were all over the place. Bethany, our tour guide, was friendly and knowledgable she made the tour worthwhile.
Very good tour with an excellent guide. We got to see a lot of ocean creatures, and she told us a lot about the history of the mangroves. Very interesting.
I guess I was expecting a quiet trip through the mangroves but one is kayaking right off the major highway leaving Key West. I I did see some fascinating creatures that the knowledgeable guide handed to us from the water but just think the tour is overpriced for what one does.
A great way to spend time away from duval and alcohol! Lindsay was our guide for the 2 hour eco kayak trip, and she rocked it. Very informative and personable young lady. Would definitely book again
This was the best thing we did while visiting Key West! Staff were all helpful, everything ran smoothly and kayaking among the mangrove trees was amazing. Would highly recommend to all.
Great, peaceful, educational tour! I'm not exactly the adventurous type, timid with water activities, but love nature, atmosphere. My husband, adult kids truly enjoyed this experience!
This tour was one of my favorite things on our trip to Key West. We did the kayaks but they also have paddle boards. We spent 2 hours paddling and exploring. Our guide was very knowledgable about the various plant and animal species. He even came in on his day off to do our tour. It was quite convenient too as they picked us up at our hotel.
This experience is a must to try in Key West, but if you are a novice or have no experience in Kayaking then please try to avoid having Ryan as your guide . Our fellow tourists were much more helpful than the guide - Ryan.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our kayak tour! It was so much fun! Our guide, Blue, was friendly and gave us a lot of info as we kayaked. If I'm ever in Key West again, I want to take this tour again--I loved it!
Great fun. Our guide, Heather was very knowledgeable and we saw lots of marine life.
I booked this tour for my husband and myself, he is an experienced kayaker and I am a newbie! We both loved it! The guide was awesome! I really enjoyed seeing new things! I was totally excited to spot a momma manatee and her baby! I have never seen one so close! She went gracefully under us! I got to see and hold animals that were totally foreign to me, as we are from Ohio! I loved it and would totally do it again!
Interesting eco tour - very knowledgeable guide. Loved the mangroves!
