Travel by air-conditioned coach from central New Orleans to the nearby fishing village of Jean Lafitte, named after an 18th-century smuggler. Home to a variety of diverse cultures, this area surrounded by Lousiana bayous has been the site of extensive logging operations, sugar and rice plantations and animal trapping enterprises over the years. Today, the people's simple way of life is a marked contrast to the hustle-bustle of New Orleans.
In Jean Lafitte, you can get some snacks (own expense) and check out an albino alligator exhibit before boarding your airboat, a vessel that relies on an aircraft-type propeller mounted on its back to move it forward. Feel the wind in your hair as your move swiftly over the wetlands.
Your native boat captain will talk about the history and culture of the area and point out wildlife as you travel. See lots of alligators lurking in the marshes, as well as local birds, raccoons and nutria -- giant river rodents that call the bayous home.
Conclude your 4-hour family-friendly escape to the Louisiana wetlands with coach transport back to central New Orleans.

Good guide and spectactular narrative. My Daughter loved touching the baby Alligator. We liked the boat and its safety equiptment for our family protection. We would recommend this trip highlly to anyone. Ed Gleadall and Family Thanks to the guide Tick Tock!
Our guide made us laugh with his gator calling. The onery critters refused to behave. It was fun and he was entertaining!
This was one of the best tour we have taken. Darius, our bus driver, was so patient with us since we were running a few minutes behind. He was very informative on our way back to New Orleans recommending some of the good spits to eat and visit. Our airboat tour guide was Jay. He was so funny and made this experience truly memorable. I highly recommend this tour.
This was a well organized and informative, as well as fun tour. We enjoyed the airboat we were on and had a fun tour guide that made sure we saw plenty of wildlife. I would do this tour again, but maybe next time take one of the smaller boats with fewer people only because I liked the stadium seating on the smaller boats, so everyone could get a good view and plenty of good pictures. We had good seats on this boat but the people in the middle of the seats may not have had as good of a view as we did being on the outside. The boat was fun to ride on and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. I highly recommend this tour
Fantastic tour with T Earle he was an excellent guide with a wealth of knowledge.
Our tour guide was super funny and knowledgeable. We got to see several alligators and learn about them and the preservation efforts that took place to restore their population. We also got to meet a lil baby gator named Fluffy. on the ride from New Orleans to the airboats we got to learn some fun thing about the History of New Orleans and Cajun culture. This trip was awesome and worth every penny!
Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Enjoyed the airboat experience, through the bayous. Saw several alligators. The tour boat leaders seem to vie with each other as to who can thrill the tourists the most with their tricks with the alligators. They fed them, 'kissed' them, and one guy even got in and swam with a couple. Great show for us.
This was a grand kid choice and we all enjoyed the trip through the bayou and visiting the alligators!
This is my fourth trip to New Orleans and my first airboat ride and had I have known what I was missing, I would have taken the tour before.
Our tour guide was so much fun. He had the alligators coming right up to the boat. Never knew they liked marshmallows. We went through the channels of moss covered Cyprus trees and truly felt the Bayou experience, Well worth the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember there is no shading, so bring sunscreen and a bottle of water.
Richie was a great guide. Very knowledgeable. Definitely something you don't want to miss if visiting the area.
Great day out, can't say more than everything went well, saw plenty of alligators close up, held baby one, really good guide very informative. Would definitely recommend
We had a great tour guide, the air boat was loud but very fun ! A must do if you are in NOLA
A great family experience with lots of redneck science : Beautiful scenery, friendly and entertaining tour guides. Recommended.
We lucked out and got Danny as our tour guide. He was incredible! We stopped a couple times along the way to watch him feed a 14' Alligator and were able to hold a baby alligator. We learned about the swampland, the wildlife and I felt like Danny was very much in tune with the land and the wildlife. He's the perfect person to be educating people for this tour and having fun along the way. I felt like the boat was going to be the highlight and it ended up the education was so much more than I expected. I would definitely recommend this tour. It was fun all the way around. We'd without doubt do this again!
It was a very informative tour. But I do wish we could have seen more wildlife :
This tour was amazing!! The tour guide Corey was very impressive! He definitely knows the swamps well and answered everyone's questions about alligators. It is worth the extra money to get the transportation out there. It's pretty far out with bad/almost no cell phone reception so I would be worried about trying to drive out there myself! Only issue was with Viator itself. The instructions are SUPER unclear. My voucher says that that the printed voucher or e-voucher is acceptable. It is not clear that you need to go to the lighthouse on the Riverwalk to exchange said voucher for printed out tickets. Also, my voucher said my airboat ride was for 10:45. Didn't clarify if that was the time of the actual airboat ride, or the time to be at the pick up location. Thank goodness I called because the bus pick up was at 10:30 - a time that was not mentioned or printed on any of the documents from the booking. So be sure to call and confirm what you need to do before the day of or you could miss your bus.
There was not a lack of alligators, and then by the tour guides' surprise he spotted a LARGE gator. Not sure if we were all amazed to see this large gator or if the tour guide was seeing this 14 foot gator. Would recommend this experience, very well organized and informative.
What a great time in a very relaxed atmosphere. It was very fast hour and half! Our captain was thoroughly entertaining, personable, and knowledgeable. Unique experience for me.
As a travel consultant I am always looking for something a little different when I am out experiencing the world.
This tour was perfect... our boat handled about 28 people and we were able to have a guide who was an knowledgeable
expert of the swamplands. The scenery was magnificent and the thrill when he opened up in the waters for a speed ride
was lots of fun. We saw wildlife and alligators along the way in a very peaceful and fun environment. Highly recommend
