3-Hour Tour (Lower Manhattan)
In the massive city of New York, where do you begin exploring? What should you see? Toss aside your heavy guidebooks and allow your private guide, an in-the-know New Yorker, lead the way. After hotel pickup, just sit back in your spacious SUV and enjoy the ride. You’ll be able to get out at most locations to walk around and snap pictures. Start in the historic West Village, the former favorite haunt of New York's bohemians and now residence to some of the city's most influential citizens. In SoHo, pass by trendy shops and art galleries, and check out TriBeCa, site of the annual film festival, listening to informative commentary along the way. Along Hudson River, reach the World Financial Center, where you’ll ponder over Ground Zero and admire the Winter Garden, a gorgeous multi-level barrel-vaulted glass atrium. Then catch sight of magnificent boats at cobblestoned South Street Seaport. Cross the Brooklyn Bridge, one of the world's first suspension bridges built in 1870, and gaze at the stunning Manhattan skyline from Brooklyn Heights Promenade. Admire another great suspension construction, the Manhattan Bridge, used by over 350,000 commuters each day.
Depending on traffic conditions, drive through Chinatown, home to the largest Chinese population in North America, and Little Italy, which boasts more than 20 historical landmarks. Learn about the neighborhoods’ rich immigration history dating from 1800 to 1965. At the conclusion of your tour, your SUV takes you back to your hotel. If you’ve selected the 5-hour tour (see below in Itinerary), see the rest of the best of New York City.
Optional 5-Hour Tour (Lower, Upper and Mid-Manhattan)
After exploring Lower Manhattan, you’ll begin at Spuyten Duyvil, or Spouting Devil, at the northern tip of Manhattan Island, for amazing views. Then make your way down the city grid and view The Cloisters and Dyckman Farmhouse, the city’s sole remaining Dutch colonial farmhouse.
Reach Washington Heights and see Morris Jumel Mansion, built in 1765, the oldest house in the borough, as your guide sheds lights on its importance during the American Revolution. Drive by Yankee Stadium and Rucker Park before heading to Morningside Park and Columbia University. At the Gothic-Revival St John the Divine Cathedral, look at Peace Fountain, a 40-foot-tall (12-meter-tall) bronze sculpture.
Learn about New York’s affair with jazz as you drive by the Cotton Club, Duke Ellington’s statue, and travel along 125th Street, the ‘Main Street’ of Harlem. Maybe it’s time to grab a snack at Red Rooster, named after a Harlem speakeasy and popular with the locals.
Then head down the elegant, tree-lined Museum Mile, hugging 5th Avenue and home to top-notch museums and eye-catching mansions. Observe more classic New York architecture at Lincoln Center and the brownstones of the Upper West Side.
In Midtown, gaze at the Beaux-Arts-style Grand Central Terminal and the Art Deco lines and curves of the Chrysler Building. Wander through Central Park and pass by the Alice in Wonderland statue, the zoo and Strawberry Fields inspired by John Lennon.
A fan of Seinfeld, Sex in the City, Gossip Girl or Woody Allen flicks? During the tour, your guide points out popular filming locations. If you’re fashion-focused, get tips on where to shop along 5th Avenue, where you’ll also see St Patrick’s Cathedral, an impressive display of American Gothic Revival architecture.
Round out your tour at Rockefeller Center and check out Radio City Music Hall, 30 Rock and the Today Show studio, before being transported back to your hotel.

Out tour guide and driver seemed like old friends by the end of the day. Fabulous tour even though the high for the day was 27 degrees! Our second tour with you and will not be our last.
James is great! Decided on the five hour tour and it was so worth it! He asked us some questions and then we we're off! Went places we never would have found on our own! My daughter loved the candy store and bakery! The money shot would have never happened and not running over the guy with his dog will forever be a family joke. I highly recommend this tour to all. It was well worth the $$.
I definitely recommend this tour. It was customized to our interests and James was a very knowledgable and personable local who was able to accommodate my requests. Though I've been to NYC a dozen times or so, taking a personalized tour with a local with such knowledge, experience and professionalism uncovered and discovered many hidden gems that I would've never found on my own. Experience NYC from an insider's perspective with this excursion. A rating.
James was great. The traffic was crazy but he handled it like a true pro.
James was so knowledgeable and interesting at the same time. I was hesitant to spend so much money on a tour but I admit this was worth it.
I've visited New York many times over the years, my friend had never been there, and my son and his girlfriend have been living there for two years. We all got something out of this five hour tour with James!
He definitely knows his stuff, and was able to customize it! Fabulous day! Thanks!!
James you were outstanding as I expected. I had seen other reviews about James and asked for him to be our tour guide.
My friend and I had one day to see as much of New York as possible and needed to get around as fast as possible to do this.
James knew everything and did more than I expected including a couple of surprises to Katz Deli and a New York Pizza place where we indulged in a pizza and an old time candy store we would have never found our own. We drove though many neighborhoods and saw all the historical sites. We were able to get so many great pictures.
James would drop us off at sites and give us plenty of time to view and then pick us up and off to the next fabulous place.
All my expectations were met.
Thank you James!

This was definitely the way to tour through NY. Much better tour than the Hop On Hop Off Bus. James was a fantastic guide taking us to some great places. 5hrs wasn't really long enough due to NY traffic. Didn't even get to see any of the Uptown area Central Park, Times Square, Empire State Building or Rockefeller - however we did do those ourselves and with the hop on hop off bus. Definitely recommend - and was helpful to do at the very start of the trip to get our bearings. Thanks James for a great and informative day through Downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn. Got some great photos too.
One of the highlights of our trip to NYC! James had a knowledge and passion for the city that made our day extra special. Highly recommend this tour especially to newcomers.
Jimmy was most knowledgeable! Fun, timely and easy, the vehicle was very comfortable and clean though the glass top is an average sunroof in the front only.
I highly recommend Jimmy for your next tour!
The Fab Four!
what can i say , James our driver was AMAZING , his knowledge of NYC and its surrounding areas was second to non , he showed us locations views and places we would never have found on our own.he was unbelievably helpful , and made our experience one of the best, yes it is expensive especially with the state of the pound , but it was worth it , we saw so many things .i cannot recommend this enough , i felt safe and secure at all times , the vehicle a large 4 x 4 was comfortable , water was provided , picked up at the hotel, and we wanted to be dropped at grand central station , he obliged.i had some great shots on my camera the best has to be the empire state through an archway of the brooklyn bridge .thanks recomended ...
Really great experience. With a guide and van you are able to cover so much of NYC. From downtown to Brooklyn. You also get to talk to someone who is a native of NYC and knows some wonderful iconic shops and delis and places. As a first timer to NYC you are able to get an overview and orient yourself to the greatest city on earth. We managed to go back ourselves at later days and explore in more depth. Like century 21. James was enlightening and had a wealth of experiences to draw upon. Thanks mate.
First rate experience. The guide arrived ahead of time. He was extremely knowledgably, pleasant and entertaining. We saw many areas we could not possibly have known about ourselves. His knowledge of celebrities was amazing. The SUV was extremely confortable. Altogether the best tour in NYC.
Really recommend this for big groups : You don't spend the whole time in the vehicle either, you get down from time to time to go explore.. loved it and only wishing we got the longer 5hr tour
Very knowledgeable man. We enjoyed this tour and learned a great deal. It was one of the best parts of our vacation in NYC! topped only by Broadway play
This was the best thing I ever organised for us for myself and two twent something children. Lantos our drive was fantastic, he was so knowledgeable, taking us to places that we would perhaps not of gone to, he was able to tell us anything we wanted to know. He told us the best photo opportunities and places to go. Have recommended to friends already and my American friends also would like to do the tour who have visit NY several times as, we were telling them things about the city that they never knew about or visited. This tour is definitely a must
Fun day. Our driver James, was most knowledgable and very personable. We enjoyed our time together.
Would highly recommend this tour we had James as our guide and he was brilliant he was extremely knowledgeable we managed to see so many sights within this 3 hour tour it's a brilliant way of getting out of the heart of New York and around the outskirts to get your bearings of were everything is located James kept stopping at various places for us to take photos and at 911 memorial site he dropped us of at a meeting point so we could visit at no point was we given a time limit it was down to us how long we took at each place to wander around and take photos a throughly brilliant day we have got some really nice photos plus we learnt a lot about New York and its history this is a great way of seeing New York when your only doing 3 or 4 days and want to see as much as you possibly can.
