Led by a local guide, this 3-hour San Francisco bike tour is a great sightseeing activity for all ages and biking levels. You’ll follow a mostly flat route along San Francisco Bay’s scenic northern waterfront before crossing the Golden Gate Bridge.
Depart in the morning or afternoon from Fisherman’s Wharf, where your guide outfits you with a proper bike, helmet and any necessary equipment for the ride. Then hop on your bicycle and pedal to nearby Aquatic Park Cove, part of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park.
Cycle down the pier and snap pics of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island before moving on to Fort Mason Center. The buildings of this former US Army post, a National Historic Landmark, are now used as a cultural and educational complex.
From here, pedal up a steep but short path that flattens out toward the Marina Green, located in the Marina District. While you cycle past opulent homes, enjoy a scenic panorama that includes the Palace of Fine Arts, Angel Island and the bridge as your backdrop.
Arriving at Crissy Field, also part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, glimpse shorebirds inside the restored marsh. From Fort Point, gaze up at the red towers of the bridge and prepare to cross the 3.6-mile (5.8-km) route, which follows a wide path for bicycles. You’ll be rewarded on the other side at Vista Point, including views of the city skyline.
At the end of your guided tour you can continue your biking adventure at your own pace for the rest of the day. You'll be provided with a cycle path map to help guide you around San Francisco and nearby coastal areas, including the picturesque town of Sausalito — renowned for its wide selection of restaurants and cafes, perfect for when hunger kicks in.
For a more challenging bike ride, follow the recommended route on the map and head up to the Marin Headlands. If city biking is your forte, use a ferry ticket for your return to San Francisco, where you can follow the map and continue to explore the city. Points of interest include the Presidio, Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach.

A most do experience If you are coming to San Francisco. Our guide name Eli was great, very informative and always taking care of the group. Lots of beautiful views.
It was a great day and Ely our guide was very informative and the perfect guide. Just a piece of information ..some of the hills are pretty steep so keep that in mind. Although Ely did encourage us to walk our bikes if needed and waited at the top for everyone. Absolutely take the ferry back unless you are a super athlete!
Our tour was great -- great weather, great bikes and great tour guide! The tour guide was informative and kept the group going, but never rushed us or made anyone feel like they were falling behind. Will definitely use it again when other visitors come to town!
Our guide - Duncan was full of information and facts throughout our tour. Being Christmas Day the ferry back from Sausalito was not operating so we rode back - well worth the time and effort. (some only went to end of bridge and return)
Easy pace with guide to share interesting facts. Great to navigate area without needing to look at maps or use phone, just ride. We decided to ride back instead of taking ferry across and had time to take in more sights and explore in the afternoon.
This was a great tour of the City. We had so much fun but the cyclists on the bridge were very aggressive and rude. I was shaking by the time we got across the bridge but it was worth it because the views were spectacular.
We initially signed up for the 10am bike tour, but due to some confusion on our end did not show up for the tour until the afternoon tour was supposed to start. Totally our fault, so they could have easily turned us away and not provided refund. Instead, they provided us with a map of the city and bike rentals with helmets and we had a great time! It's unfortunate we missed the tour so I can't comment on the quality of the tour, but their customer service and the quality of their bikes was great!
Great tour and well priced. Definitely recommend doing this when in SF. Beautiful bike ride and it was fun to ride over the Golden Gate bridge. Our guide let us stop while on the bridge and take photos. Moderate level of fitness required due to the length and a few hills thrown in. You can keep and use the bikes for a 24 hour period.
My husband and I enjoyed this trip very much. Especially when you cross the bridge and get into Sausalito. It is very special.
This was a challenging bike tour, but really amazing views and fun! Going over the bridge was awesome and Saulsalito was a lovely little town. It was a big group, but the guide did a good job keeping us altogether. We saw some great sites along the way. Remember, this is a hilly place, so be prepared to peddle!
Ride along marina district and along beach park up to bridge was beautiful . Great family activity with teenagers,
We were apprehensive about taking this tour due to the weather forecast. We were assured that it would still be a great trip and despite the rain showers and cold it was,! Our Guide, Jose, was very knowledgeable and he took great care of our group. Pace of the ride was perfect, allowing us time to take photos and just enjoy the beautiful scenery. The views were spectacular and riding across the bridge was much easier than I had thought. Ironically, taking this tour in the rain allowed us to enjoy the bridge without crowds. And halfway across the sun came out and stayed out during our ride to Sausalito. I would recommend spending time in Sausalito and taking the ferry back. Its a beautiful and quaint village. Dont miss an opportunity to take this bike tour!
Our tour guide Dan, he was great! He was so patient with us considering that most of us are not a pro-cyclist. He stopped and explained all the land marks in detailed.
Highly recommended if you have the interest with spending almost 1 full day out door on your own, cycling and enjoying the beautiful San Francisco. Also, better to purchase the return ferry ticket from the bike tour provider in advanced rather than getting the ticket at the ferry terminal unless you have a Clipper pass card purchased beforehand.
This biking tour was really very enjoyable and our guide was fantastic. We were only a few people and we had fantastic views, got good tips and enjoyed biking during daytime in hands of his good guidance with security. Sausalito is a nice small village on the other side, well worth to visit, we had a wonderful lunch and took the last ferry back with our bikes. Very much recommended, we visited October 2016.
Our tour was excellent and tour guide Stacee was superb. Her knowledge, temperament and love for the Bay area made a beautiful ride even better She even fixed my tyre puncture within a couple minutes flat!
