What to Expect What to Expect

After a dozen years of running kayak tours in Ketchikan, we're consistently surprised at the number of visitors who never set foot in the Rain Forest. Our E-Bike tour originated from a desire to get more visitors into this amazing rain forest. With almost 200 inches of rain annually, there really is no place as lush and unique as Southeast Alaska. The forest floor is bountiful with all kinds of Flora and Fauna and depending on the time of season its not unusual to see deer or or salmon swimming up stream.
Port times for most folks are very limited, so we wanted to maximize your time by combining multiple activities on this tour. Plus we wanted to offer more than just a hiking tour anyway. So we made the trip to the trailhead half the adventure in itself. And how could we not stop along the shoreline of the sea along the way back? It's not unheard of to see Porpoises, Seals and Sea Lions or sometimes Humpbacks from the beach.
Electric assist bicycles are bicycles. You pedal them and shift gears like any other bike. They are very quiet in operation and are not classified as a motorized vehicle. However, when you want a little boost in your ride just twist the throttle and you'll quickly see why e-bikes are so much fun to ride. These bikes are powerful and seriously cool. We can cover more distance using e-bikes than conventional bicycles, you don't have to worry about keeping up, and they are the perfect way to get just the amount of exercise you're after. They are very accommodating with a step-through frame so you don't have to throw a leg over the bike to get on and off. We recharge our e-bikes with hydro power so they are a clean source of fun. Our tour usually max's out at 8 people, so no chance of getting lost in the crowd.
Get out of town with us on your visit to Ketchikan this summer!

Can't begin to thank all the personnel of this company! My friends, my husband and I had a very positive an exciting experience! It was our first opportunity to use electric bikes and after traveling with Vermont biking tours for 8 years this was a very pleasant assist using the electric boost! We loved everything about the trip, our guide Derek and his assistant, the bike ride to the rainforest was exhilarating and the hike in the rainforest is like being in a fairytale! Our knowledgeable guides helped us appreciate the wilderness and wildness of this beautiful state. Highly recommend the adventure to all those who like biking and hiking!

This was better than advertised. Our guide was excellent. He knew his history, he knew his environment, and most importantly he knew his group. After a brief lesson on how to use the electric bikes we were off, They were wonderful. We rode for 5 miles to get to the forest and it was a breeze and it was fun. The electric assist was wonderful. Once we got there the hiking was spectacular. Our guide pointed out many different plants and trees and provided some really interesting facts. The highlight of our tour was the whales we spotted. They were playing just a couple of hundred yards off shore. That was totally unexpected. These guys were great and I would heartily recommend the tour.

My family and I throughly enjoyed this excursion! This was our first time on electric bikes and the entire team was very helpful in making sure we felt comfortable. Our guide, Tim, made sure that we saw all that Ketchikan had to offer. The rain forest hike is AMAZING and gives you the opportunity to see various wildlife/marine animals. We would definitely recommend this Eco-Tour!

Friendly, helpful staff. The e-bikes were easy to ride and fantastic for hills even in the rain. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, explaining the local ecology. The hike was fun and educational ending at a gorgeous spot on the shore. Great way to spend a few hours in Ketchikan.

We were met by the owner of the bike company. They do kayak trips, as well. The electric bike was new, worked well and gave us the extra impetus to climb the undulating roadways to the hiking area. Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable, understood the strength and weaknesses of the participants and spent plenty of time explaining what we were seeing. Thanks Tim.

This was so much fun! Tim picked us up at the Cruise dock. After a 20 min van ride to the Marina, we were given helmets and fitted to our eBike. After a short test run around the parking lot, we were off. Rode on a paved road with minimal traffic and rolling hills. Like a normal bike, you pedal and have a gear shifter. However instead of huffing and puffing up a hill, all you have to do is turn the hand grip and the motor engages and propels you along effortlessly. At the end of the too short road, Tim guided us thru the Tongass Forest. Had a beautiful hike along a shaded trail, which included a raised walkway and some stairs. Came back along the beach with beautiful views of the coast and islands. After the ride back seemed shorter than on the way out, had a delicious smoked salmon dip before returning to the port. Thanks to Tim and Devon for a unique and memorable tour.

Guide was very knowledgeable, helpful and really looked out for us. The electric bikes took a little getting used to as they are heavy and strong. You can pedal the bike, use pedal and electric battery power, or just use the electric power to move you along the quiet road. The hike through the rain forest was educational and was a little challenging with some uphill and downhill climbs over an hour or two. We stopped along the way to hear about the rainforest and came out at a clearing along the beach. It was fun.

My wife and I had a wonderful trip and Tim our guide was super. The customer service was so much better than our usual experiences which is really never bad speaks to their customer focus. The tour itself is both unique and fun. With the E-bikes those small hills are no problem. The real prize is the hike in the rain forest with Tim's encyclopedic knowledge of the flora and marine life. Thank's guys for a great day.

We enjoyed our tour very much. Tim and his partner did a good job showing us how to drive the bikes and leading us through the rain forest. We wish the bike ride had been on a more interesting road, as there was not much to see although we did see a black bear on the way back. The bikes were fun to ride, allowing us to pedal as much or little as desired. Very tempting to get lazy! The trail was pretty, with a lovely waterfall. The stop at the beach was a nice change of scenery, but we couldn't walk along it because it as too narrow that day.

This was a lot of fun! The electric bikes are great and the hills are no problem! The hike through the rain forest was amaking and the guide was very informative! We even saw Orcas when we got to the beach. There were only 4 of us in our group, which was nice. Would definitely recommend this tour!

Devon was gracious in making our experience wonderful. Tim was very knowledgeable about the rainforest and the e-bikes were the most fun we had in years. This group of guys really like their work and made our first day in Alaska the best time. I highly recommend them if you can work it out. This was an off the boat tour, much less expensive and more fun.

I had a great time on my bike and hike tour. Tim was my tour guide and he had excellent knowledge of the biological history of the area and enthusiastically shared that with me. The rest of the staff were friendly and helpful, as well. I would definitely recommend an excursion with Ketchikan Kayak Co.
