Stop At: Charleston Ghost & Graveyard Tour, Charleston, South Carolina
Meet your guide at a central meeting point, then proceed to the graveyard where you will hear about Charleston's spirits and gruesome tales such as:
• The ghost of Sue Howard, a grieving mother who prays at the grave of her dead child from the spirit world. Your guide has the picture to prove it.
• The Great Nullifier, famous rebel warrior John C. Calhoun. Find out why he and his wife still dance in the street every year, for over 150 years running.
• Tales of being buried alive. Doctors in old Charleston didn't take chances with contagious diseases. Fall unconscious in a hospital, wake up in a grave.Learn why the terms saved by the bell and graveyard shift were coined. You will be glad you weren't around when they were.
While other walking tours are looking in through the iron fence, you'll be on the inside. Learn the history of Charleston's haunted graveyards and hear tales about famous individuals who found their final resting place in the Holy City.
Don't forget your flash cameras. You never know what phantom images you can capture...

Our tour was awesome! It was hot though (humid) like the deep south gets and a lot of walking. Take water!!! Enjoyed it and will go again on the jail tour when we go back to Charleston.
Was a good night out. Not a lot of walking in this one - you check out the old dueling alley first then head over to the Graveyard where you spend the rest of the night, with quite a few intriguing ghost stories throughout. Not a lot of time to wander the graves, but the lighting is minimal and photo opportunities are limited within the graveyard. Adds to a pretty spooky experience!
This was fun! Susan, our guide, kept the tour interesting with many historical anecdotes but tales of ghosts were the best. They weren't particularly scary but the back stories were always compelining. August humidity and still heat were made bearable only because I wanted to hear the rest of her stories.
I found this tour rather boring. It was too long. Our guide only made references to one orb and kept repeating that with more stories on that one particular orb. we thought it would be fun and 10 of our family went. i would not do this tour again. It was not worth the money we paid for the 10 of us.
No quite what I expected. Tour is completely outside so no buildings to walk in. Only walked in one cemetery and around another one a couple of times and walked into the entrance way of park. Great history tour though.
We enjoyed our tour very much! Our tour guide, Larry, was entertaining, very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston, and ensured that all the tour participants had lots of time to ask questions. My granddaughter had hoped for a scary, spooky graveyard tour. This is not the tour for that. No one came away from the tour frightened by ghosts or spirits, but it was still a wonderful tour! We would definitely take another Charleston tour via this website . . . and request Larry as our guide.
Great walking tour. Enjoyed hearing the history of Charleston!! The guide wa very informed and you could tell he enjoyed sharing the history of Charleston!
Very interesting tour of the graveyards in Charleston. Our tour guide was great!!
Joy was very knowable. Had turned cold and had to leave tour early. Time that was told the tour would take and what it was taking was longer. Also had made a dinner reservation based on time it would take. Next time will allow more time.
Want to get spooked, this is the tour for that. Our guide, Randy, a native Charlestonian brought many local legends and knowledge to this adventure. Get ready to walk among the dead, bring your camera, ENJOY the moment!
Enjoyed the informative knowledge of our guide... but could barely hear her which greatly limited our enjoyment of experience.
I think it would have been much better if the tour guide was a local Charlestonian. We were locals and she had just moved to Charleston, she didn't have any Charleston experiences to tell us. We knew more about some things than she did
Unbelievably great!!!! Came open minded to the tour but didn't really believe in ghosts, the tour changed our prospective of things. Our 12 was able to capture a real ghost. The tour guide was absolutely perfect for this tour.
This was a great tour. Our guide Will was personable, a good story-teller, and knowledgeable. My 12 yo and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We believe we got a photo of an orb in the graveyard.
