Overview Overview

Step aboard the teak decks of your elegant 1920s style yachts, the Manhattan and Manhattan II, and enjoy a 2.75 hour cruise while learning about  NYC's architectural landmarks from the water. The "Around Manhattan" tour narration, provided by members of the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) NYC chapter, is general enough for visitors yet detailed enough for the locals.
Aboard the yachts, experience a comfortable and unique tour through the Hudson, East, and Harlem Rivers from the climate-controlled and enclosed back-deck observatory or wander to the outer decks for fresh air and sunlight. Guests are treated to one complimentary beer, wine or champagne from the bar & a light snack about 1-hour into the trip. Additional beverages are available for purchase by credit card. On this cruise, you will circumnavigate the island of Manhattan (passing under all 18 bridges) while taking in monuments, architecture, parks and infrastructure with narration by a member of the AIANY Chapter.

Born and raised in New York and now frequently visit. Never did the architecture cruise but well worth it! Catch up on the latest developments, enjoy the beauty of the city from an excellent and comfortable boat for viewing!

There too many people on cruise, they combined 2 cruises and it made it hard to hear the commentator. It would have been better to split the cruise in half and have 2 separate ones rather than over 90 people on one. Also, we should have been told when purchasing tickets that it was not a full cruise that only part would be covered. Some of the most interesting was lacking. It would have made a difference in our purchasing tickets.

The boat guide, the food and any organization on the boat was Excellent!!!In my opinion, such a your should focus on fewer buildings and hear a but more about each building. It is less interesting whois the architect of each building, whoever does not come from this world will not remember the names, but interesting stories about these building we will remember for ever.It is worthwhile to protect the picture of the building on which you spoke , it will certainly help about what building the guide is talking.Good example is the Architecture tours in Chicago!

This would have been a wonderful cruise had it not been for the groups of people who came on board for purposes other than enjoying an architecture cruise. One group was there to have a casual business meeting in a pleasant environment and the 10 of them carried on conversations both inside and later outside the cabin for the entire length of the cruise. They were impossible to escape. Another group partied loudly outside and so it was impossible to concentrate on the architect's descriptions or find a quiet spot away from constant gabbing. I asked an employee to remind them to be respectful of paying guests after the docent architect had done so himself. She smiled but did nothing. I spoke to her again at end only to receive another smile. I spoke to the architect and he said that after his first time asking guests to be considerate, it was up to the crew. Such a shame. The experience could have been so enjoyable, but I would not recommend this to anyone who really has an interest in architecture. It is pleasant if you just want to party and see the sights.

Super highly recommended! The boats are beautiful and super comfortable we went on Manhattan II, but we also saw Manhattan I at the pier and the best part, it was NOT crowded. There's a full bar and light snacks, the crew was great, even bringing drinks while we were outside. The architect who was narrating was very good and you can also hear him while being outside!

We really enjoyed this tour. The boat was very open and well designed to observe all the New York skylines. The architect guide gave a very thorough and interesting explanation of many buildings we were not even aware of....with all the historical anecdotes. We learnt a lot. It was made even more enjoyable with champagne and open bar with snacks as the tour takes over two hours. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Certainly a step up from most water-based tours we've taken. Boat was lovely, drinks and snacks actually good. The architect (wish I could remember his name) spoke for the entire 2.5 plus hours (and the sound system was quite effective) and shared fascinating knowledge and history. didn't even use notes! We sailed around the entire island, and took in the sights of Governor and Roosevelt Islands as well. It was great to see the Statue of Liberty up close, pass by Ellis and Staten Islands, and enjoy going under the beautiful bridges radiating out from Manhattan. We'd recommend this tour to newcomers and natives alike! Susan U

We spent a lovely Saturday afternoon on this architectural cruise that went around the entire island and pointed out as many architectural landmarks as our guide could speak in the nearly 3 hr ride as well as a nice look at Ellis Island, the Statute of Liberty, Governors Island, Brooklyn and the Bronx side of the East and Harlem Rivers.

My husband and I took this tour in June. The boat trip around the island of Manhattan (in a very comfortable yacht) with the opportunity to learn about the architecture (and subsequently the history) of the various buildings we saw made for an enjoyable and educational afternoon. Climate controlled boat with the chance to venture outside (and still hear the commentary) weather permitting. Highly recommend the tour!!

This tour was well worth doing. We loved seeing the skyline by day. The tour guides are architects and give a great run down on all the important buildings and the history of the development. A great way to start our visit to the big Apple. The food was very good also.

My husband and I both thought the Manhattan Architecture Yacht Cruise was the highlight of our time in NYC. It was a beautiful yacht, great views and easy to see. The architect was very knowledgeable and well spoken. We had one table of loud talking guests on our cruise and the architect did his best to let the rest of us hear his commentary. We highly recommend this tour.

New to NY I found the tour very rewarding. The weather was great. Our guide was wonderful. Even if you've lived in the area I highly recommend the tour. One improvement would to serve bottled water to those guests who don't drink alcohol instead of water in a small plastic cup.

This tour is exceptional if you want to go ALL THE WAY AROUND Manhattan Island. The focus is on which architects designed many of the iconic buildings and the architect who was our guide was fantastic. The light buffet and drinks were great and the inside of the boat had huge windows so we could see everything while being comfortable. We would definitely do it again!!
