What to Expect What to Expect

Often called the Historic Heart of San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter is the main dining and entertainment district of the city. With more than 150 bars and restaurants and 94 registered historic buildings, this nightlife playground has a lot to see and do, as well as a fascinating past.
The Brothels, Bites and Booze tour will introduce you to the beginnings of San Diego as a port town – learn why it became one of the more notorious red light districts of its time, and find out how this once-undesired neighborhood became a fun and vibrant nightlife destination for both locals and visitors.
After meeting your guide, you’ll embark on a journey of scandalous tales, unique cocktails and local cuisine. On the tour, you’ll make new friends, hear interesting stories, sing karaoke and explore new tastes at local restaurants*.

This was a great way to pass an evening, get an overview of the neighborhood and sample 4 great eateries. Stephan was an enthusiastic guide and made sure everyone in our group had a great time.

This was a fun tour. Our guide Stephen was a lot of fun and was very knowledgeable. As we walked along learning about the history of the brothels we stopped at various restaurants where we enjoyed food samples and drinks. We were with a great group of people and had a really good time. I would suggest this tour to anyone that wants to visit the Gaslamp Quarters and have a fun filled evening.

It was a fun walking tour of the Gaslamp district. Edwin was outstanding as our guide and storyteller. He was pleasant and knowledgeable of the area and San Diego as a whole. Each of our stops gave us quality food that is a good indicator of their fare. I would recommend this tour to everyone who visits or lives in San Diego whom would like to sample and learn what the best of the Gaslamp District has to offer.

Great, fun tour, with a great enthusiastic tour guide. Loved the 1st restaurant that we visited and would never have thought San Diego could have supported so many brothels!

It has been more than a year since we took this tour and we still talk about how much we enjoyed it! The food and drinks were great but the best part was the history and stories about the area that our guide shared with us.

Great knowledgeable guide. The tour took us to four different places which provided delicious 'bites' and a booze to compliment their offering. Between the different restaurants, we were treated to enthusiastic tales of the brothels as we were shown the different locations.
My advice, take the tour, but don't eat first...... lots of food and drink!

This is such an amazing area with a lot of interesting history. Our stops were diverse and we had plenty to eat.
The guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. There is plenty to see after the tour if you want to stay. we parked in a garage near the starting point. Go early because you have a lot of traffic in the area.

So much fun - Stephan was full of energy, information and fun. We had a wonderful group -
lovely people from San Antonio, terrific couple from North Carolina/Virginia area and 4 young
travellers from Belgium. Food was great - company lots of fun. Would highly recommend this for
an evening outing in San Diego. We went back to 3 of the 4 places to eat during the rest of our week's vacation.
Although we have stayed in SD many times - this was a highlight.

Great tour. My BF who had been stationed there didn't know half of these stories. Great food and a great deal.

High energy, knowledgable guide. A great way to learn not only some of the history of San Diego, but see many beautiful historic buildings. Our food stops were varied and the bites just right. Having a larger group 16 proved to be a plus as we got to know other folks from different states. And China! A great way to spend a few hours.
