High Line Park, 500 West 30th Street Entrance
Concludes at 6th Avenue and West 3rd Street
Make your way to the High Line to begin this exciting 3.5-hour guided walking tour of the elevated park and the famous Greenwich Village. Expect to be wowed by the High Line. Once an elevated railway line for cargo that went all the way down the west side of Manhattan, it fell into disuse and was eventually abandoned in the 1970s. It sat there unused and unloved for decades until a group of locals, with a few celebrities tossed in for good measure, began a movement to turn it into a park.
As you’ll see during your walk, they succeeded. The first of three phases was completed in 2009. In September 2014, the third and final phase opened, completing a park that is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long and is enjoyed equally by tourists and locals.
Learn about all the public art in the park, as well as the new buildings by famous architects that can be seen from the High Line. Once you’ve reached the end, at the Meatpacking District, descend the stairs and meet Greenwich Village, one of New York’s most historic and eye-pleasing neighborhoods. When New York City developed the grid street plan for Manhattan in the early 19th century, Greenwich Village already existed, which is why the neighborhood is a charming tangle of curving, confusing streets.
Explore the Village in a delicious way, through its food. Eat a slice of real Big Apple pizza and get clued in on where to find some of the best Italian specialties and chocolate confections in the city — you’ll make up to six stops and sample enough food to make a full lunch of it. But a neighborhood is more than just its food. Find out from the guide what famous people have lived in the neighborhood, and what famous people still do. Learn about the best underground jazz clubs and cool independent bookstores. The tour concludes in Greenwich Village, leaving you free to continue to explore this vibrant neighborhood.

What a wonderful tour! Our guide Jennifer was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the area. And the food was absolutely unbelievable! Bleecker Street Pizza and Li-Lac Chocolates we’re the best I’d ever had. Would definitely recommend this tour and Jennifer as well! Thank you for showing us such a great time!
This was a great way to see the High Line and sample the fantastic Greenwich Village food scene. Jillian is knowledgeable and fun and really seems to enjoy sharing the city with visitors. I highly recommend this tour!
Great way to learn and see NY. Our guide, Nancy, was 5 star. Our teenagers (13 and 15) also enjoyed the tour. All the food spots were great. And the small more personalize group size was nice. Highly recommend!
I coordinated this day with my coworkers to thank them for all the hard work they have done on a large project. I really wanted the day to be a day of relaxation and fun and this was such a great choice. Everyone, including myself, loved Alex. He was so informative and energetic and his passion for NYC is contagious. It was so great to see the development in the Highline and to learn about what is planned - can't wait for my next tour to see how it has changed. Beyond that, the food in Greenwich Village was delightful - we especially loved that every stop had a story about the food history. Highly recommend this tour to families and groups of all ages.
We did this tour with Alex. He was fabulous! It was like hanging out with my kids and their friend, who just happened to be a New Yorker. Alex is energetic, fun and very smart about NYC history and current events. The only thing Viator needs to change is to add one more choice as to who I vacationed with—adult children. Thank you
Annabelle provided great information on the history, architecture, and culture around Highline park. She is extremely knowledgeable and responsive to questions. We enjoyed pizza, chocolates, french confections and italian cannolis! We have taken food tours in a number of cities and this ranks among the best. Highly recommend it.
Billy is a fantastic guide! Very polite, patient, happy. I enjoyed his knowledge and his humorous way. Pouring rain during our tour. I loved it! All the food was great, as were the store owners and staff. Great tour!
We really enjoyed our tour with Jillian. She is not only knowledgable with historic landmarks but also makes the whole experience fun with her personality. She shares her personal experiences as a New Yorker, which gives you a glimpse of what day to day living is like in the big apple. You definitely leave the tour feeling like you made a new local friend. Be prepared to eat because there will be tons of delicious food on this tour.
I highly recommend this tour. Perfect way to explore all the awesome shops and bakeries at Greenwich Village. The High Line Park tour is very informative.
We had Billy Nemec as our guide - he was great, he told us so many facts - very interesting and the food OMG so good. I would definitely recommend this tour
It was so much fun and Nancy was a great guide. Make sure that you're hungry. The food is marvelous.
Awesome adventure with Alex as our guide! Have traveled to the City many times and have explored on my own. But having Alex point out and share all kinds of information was worth every penny we paid! Knowledgeable, personable and kept the day very interesting and fun. And when the tour was over I couldn't eat another bite! Can't wait to visit city and take another tour!
Amazing day, was snowy too which added to the wonder. Nancy was the perfect guide - she went out of her way to make not just the tour but our whole day magical - a truly lovely person - don’t hesitate to book.
Alex was a great guide, full of interesting facts and took us to some terrific eateries in Greenwich Village. We had a wonderful time with him and the High Line is well worth a visit. Urban renewal at its very best!
This Tour was so much fun and filled with interesting information about New York's Highline and Greenwich Village. Our Tour guide Alex was awesome, very knowledgeable and passionate about the city. He made the tour fun and interesting. The food was amazing and filling; you will not need lunch or dinner!
Despite having problems finding our guide Annabel at the beginning of our tour due to unclear instructions we had a very enjoyable time. She explained the history of the High Line, the main points of interest along the way and the various artworks we passed. From there we ventured into Greenwich Village to try a wonderful array of gourmet treats, all part of New York's food story. Annabel, who grew up in New York, has a great knowledge of it's history and people. It was an enlightening and enjoyable experience which I would highly recommend.
Loved our highline stroll and food tour in Greenwich Village. We toured on a gorgeous fall day and our guide, Nancy, was interesting, helpful and full of charm. Loved the pizza joint she took us too.
Lovely hot sunny day in early October, starting with a walk along the high line, then on to the foodie bit round the village. Fascinating area, and for sure will be staying down this end of Manhattan on our next trip! Ate far too much - whats new? And a really interesting insight in to the area
It was a great tour. Really felt we got to know Brooklyn. Guide was great. Food was wonderful.
A really interesting walk with a guide providing good insights and facts as we walked along. The first part of the walk covered the High Line, but adding the guided tour in Greenwich village with the food stops made it really great. Our guide, Nancy, was a star and our perfect hostess through the neighborhoods.
