Those who want to learn more about logging history in the northwest, or who simply are curious about vintage logging machinery, will find plenty of material at Camp 18. Outdoor displays include multiple steam donkeys such as a Dolbeer single spool, a very early first-generation model, to a high-tech late-model Willamette compound geared yarder that was the height of technology for its day. Other displays on site include a large bandsaw from a sawmill, a self-propelled Ohio steam crane, Caterpillar-style tracked vehicles that worked in the woods, a railroad skeleton log car and other heavy equipment plus a wide variety of large and small hardware. We will make a quick stop here on our way to the spectacular Oregon Coast so that you can explore the historic equipment, use the restroom, and buy some coffee if you want.

Dylan was a great tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and he allowed just the right time for every stop. Our stops were pretty amazing sights with pleasant surprises on the way. We were going to rent a car and do the Oregon Coast ourselves. Looking back, it was a great decision to take the tour or we would have missed certain spots that a seasoned tour guide would know. Oregon is beautiful and this tour highlights all it's beauty. Dylan's narrative is point on and very helpful. I highly recommend this tour.
Beautiful scenery, and Evan (our guide) was so charming and considerate. Absolutely worth the price, you will love it.
We absolutely LOVED this tour! The sights are AMAZING! Our guide, Scott, was personable and helpful in getting us to the best spots. Highly recommend this trip. We walked the beach, hiked in a state park AND recommend it for everyone! This Coast is nothing like East Coast beaches so we were delightfully surprised! Wear walking shoes or no shoes on the beach! Cannon Beach shops -- stop at Coastal Yarns if you are a knitter! Lunch at the Driftwood - you will not be disappointed!! The state parks were gorgeous - green, moss, 4' ferns, enormous evergreens. A Must Do!
I was very impressed with this tour and the tour guide. The ride to the coast was quite beautiful and the beach areas were breathtaking. This tour is a must to get a true feel of Oregon. If you go to Portland and never leave the city, you are definitely missing out on the beauty and history of Oregon. Our tour guide Phil was the best guide that I ever had. He made the tour even more special for us. Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock are a must see. We had lunch while at Cannon Beach and the fish was very fresh and delicious.
EXCELLENT guide, very informative and helpful. Beautiful area. Rained all day so we had to do some alternative activities since we couldn't stay on the beach as long, but those were interesting as well. Hotel pick up and drop off much appreciated.
Jerri is a wonderful guide and a great driver. We had problems because I was not given a pick up location, but we got it worked out and the tour was spectacular, even in a light rain.
Highly recommend taking this tour. It was a very nice day and the tour guide was great. Oregon Coast was beautiful.
I enjoyed it! Many interesting stops, and a great tour guide that explained the history. I enjoyed everything!
We loved, loved, loved this tour! Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock, Short Sand Beach and Manzanita Beach were great. Evan sp was exceptional!
If you want to get out of the city for the day and relax on the beach then this is ideal. The views from Ecola park were amazing and the when we got to Canon beach you can see haystack rock up close. I am personally not a fan of dry sandy beaches and as we were going to be on a bus for another few hours I stayed on the wet sand but still had some good views. Canon beach town is also very nice. I recommend Crepe Neptune for lunch or the guide advises Toms fish and chips which other people on my tour said was really nice. Also recommend Schwietert's Cones and Candy. It's a really nice candy store that can sell blocks of fudge of all different flavours. When visiting Oswald West Park it's about a 15 minute walk from the car park to the beach but it's reasonably flat.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and presented the history in a fun way. We got to see so many beautiful places! I highly recommend this tour!
This is a great tour. I was so glad I did this tour. You need to take this tour. The tour guide did a great job!!!!
We were told that a visit to Portland wouldn't be complete without visiting the Oregon Coast and we're glad we did! The coastline was a rugged natural beauty and the coastal towns were quaint and lovely. Our guide, Eddie, was awesome and had genuine enthusiasm for the area, which was catching.
Our tour guide was phenomenal. She provide us with numerous data - about trees, rock formations, area geography, history, and many other information. The weather was extremely foggy so limited what coast line was visible. So added a cheese factory and a wine tour to compensate for the weather. What an extremely delightful day.
The guide was very knowledgeable and flexible. When rain and fog closed off one of our viewing stops she asked what we might want to do. Then she took us to a cheese factory and a winery. We got to see the coast and when the weather turned we were able to see other sites which were great.
Fantastic scenery and tour guide. He was AMAZING! Really professional, friendly, educated, flexible and kind. Congratulations for such a great addition to the team. We LOVED the tour, Oregon Coast is so pretty and breathtaking.
An amazing experience with beautiful lanscapes. Even though it was raining, the sights were amazing. Our guide Ed was very friendly and knowledgable and made sure everyone are comfortable. We saw stopped at some view points, walked through the forest in a wonderful and easy to walk trail, spend a lot of time at the beach, and visited some small towns. I highly recommend!
This is the way to see Astoria and Cannon Beach. The tour was everything we hoped for. The guide was excellent and the time we spent in each place was perfect. My wife and I often comment that we were delighted we booked this tour.
This was a wonderful tour despite the fog on the coast that day. The drive to and from was beautifully scenic with the array of fall colors. Also exciting was the view of both Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens we saw at a lookout. The view of the beach from Ecola Park was mystical with the fog and the rocks of Cannon Beach. Cannon Beach was a treat to walk through and a close up of the fog shrouded Haystack Rock was spectacular and unforgettable! We also got to see the sea otters on the pier in Astoria. In all it was a great trip with great people in the van but particularly outstanding was our guide, Eddie. A more pleasant and knowledgeable guide would be hard to find. He helped make this a very memorable day. I would recommend this for everyone.
