What to Expect What to Expect

Visit: The National WWII Museum, New Orleans, Louisiana

Head inside The National WWII Museum with your general admission ticket and start exploring the captivating exhibition space at leisure. The Museum tells the story of the American Experience in the war that changed the world—why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today—so that all generations will understand the price of freedom and be inspired by what they learn.
Guaranteed to move and educate, The National WWII Museum features interactive exhibits, soaring aircraft, personal histories, and more. The heart of the Museum experience, Campaigns of Courage: European and Pacific Theaters brings visitors inside the story of how the war was won. Two immersive exhibitions—Road to Berlin: European Theater Galleries and Road to Tokyo: Pacific Theater Galleries—feature environmental exhibits that guide visitors chronologically through the narrative of each theater of combat, using a sophisticated mix of set design, narrated and environmental videos, period newsreels, interactive oral-history kiosks, personal and digital artifacts, and dynamic displays for a uniquely evocative experience.
How long you spend inside the museum is up to you! If you are hungry or simply want a break from exploring the exhibits, visit the on-site American Sector Restaurant + Bar and take a step back in time in BB’s Stage Door Canteen, a 1940s-style entertainment venue that showcases the music and performers of the war years. Food and drinks are at your own expense.

The senior rate at the Museum was cheaper. Would do the museum again since I like history. It was interesting and still expanding.

Incredibly well laid out and informative. Need to dedicate a few hours to get the most out of the exhibits and videos. Must see the movie Beyond All Boundaries. It was fantastic.

Every teenager in the country should be required to visit the amazing realistic vignettes and most of all the 4D film narrated by Tom Hanks. We left the theater weeping from the amazing, moving experience!

We all loved the WWII Museum!! I wish we had more time to spend there. One of the best parts was when we walked in they had a table set up where you could meet a veteran of the War. It was an honor to meet someone who was part of it.

What an interesting museum. We had planned to have lunch at commanders Palace but changed the reservation to dinner so we can spend more time in the museum. Be sure to get the ticket to the Tom Hanks movie overview before you start the tour, if possible. Fabulous displays an audio guides.

A must see in New Orleans. Make sure you get tickets to any event showing. We didn't get tickets to the submarine prior to our visit to the museum and they were sold out. That part was disappointing but the museum itself was wonderful.

What a great museum. It was very moving. I enjoyed the big picture exhibits, and the personal story following one soldier through the war. I wish I had more time to spend there.

I loved the immersiveness of the scenes at the Battle of the Bulge, Guadalcanal. You were walking in an actual unit encampment. The collection of weapons and equipment from both sides was also impressive. They have added a STEM wing to help modern kids connect. The size of 4 normal museums, plan at least half a day.

Incredibly informational. Really puts that time in history into perspective and certainly reminds you why it was called World War II. I would definitely recommend planning on a full day to really take it all in.

finest museum experience you can have. rivals smithsonion sp. take the time 1/2 day at least and learn so hopefully history is not repeated. we really made many mistakes and were very fortunate the war came out as it did. would do it again.

We have visited several museums but, this particular one was on my bucket list. My husband and I are really big WWII buffs. This destination did not disappoint. We visited on Memorial Day and there was a special ceremony. We did meet the oldest survivor from Pearl Harbor and that was epic. Also, if I were to go back, I would have done a 2 day pass as we did not get to see everything. On a side note, we did have trouble with Viator.com website and incorrect wording on the theater ticket being included with out purchase through Viator. I contacted Viator and they made it right with us so I commend them for doing so. I honestly feel this museum was FANTASTIC!

The museum is an amazing place. I learned so much. Like everyone said, it abldoes take a full day to see it all. I wish I had known that we could have gotten a 2nd day for just 6. It would have been really nice to have the additional time and ability to rest, when needed, and be able to see it all.
