Our tour guide Chris was very informative, patient and accommodating. He was prompt when picking us up in the morning and shared a lot of his knowledge concerning the mansions and Newport. We had plenty of time to tour the mansions and have a nice lunch. I would recommend this tour company.
Great tour! It was a day long excursion and well worth the time. Visiting these mansions takes you back to a time of opulence. Well worth it!
We took this tour on a very rainy day in October but it was a great excursion! Chris showed up in a small bus and we saw fall foilage colors along the 1 1/2 hour drive. We had entrance to two mansions in the town and learned lots of information about Newport and the gilded age. We were given a couple of hours for lunch and shopping between visiting the two mansions. Only downside was the weather..,
This was a worth while trip and I would definitely recommend it. Chris our driver was a wealth of interesting information. The two mansions we visited were mind blowing as they were only used for 8 weeks every year. We enjoyed the lunch we had in Newport on the pierLobster rolls There was no rush to get back to the coach at each stop off, the whole experience was quite chilled. The fact that the weather was glorious might have also added to the trip.
This was a very well organized and excellent tour! Our guide was very good. One caution the Cliff Walk does have one difficult section of rocks. Make sure you have good shoes and feel comfortable walking on uneven rocks. The mansions and ocean views are spectacular! This was a great day tour!
Loved our tour guide Kevin...he was great and very informative. The mansions are beautiful..I definitely recommend this tour!
We didn't have the best weather, but it was a terrific day nonetheless. Chris was an experienced, knowledgeable guide who provided a wealth of information. He did a great job leading a double group...evidently a previous day's tour had been cancelled so our group was twice the size that would be typical. But he handled it all very well, and we enjoyed ourselves. And of course, the mansions are spectacular. Just wish the weather had cooperated so we could have done the cliff walk.
This tour was amazing. The tour guide,Chris knew history and trivia about every town we passed through. He drove
The back roads of Newport and shared beautiful views of farms and stone walls back to 17 th century. He supplied water and snacks. MANSIONS WERE FABULOUS. Chris offered 3 choices of activity due to bad weather in afternoon. So we added in a tour of the Marble House. Coming home he got us through a severe rain storm safely and went off express way to get out of traffic jam.He continued his trivia all through Boston and I learned more about my favorite city. We were so I impressed we are booking another tour to Martha's Vineyard. I highly recommend this tour.
This is the third time I am writing a review for all the excursions we took in Boston. This review pertains to all 4 excursions. All the excursions were very interesting. My wife and I had never been to Boston before and I must commend the advisors at Viator for their invaluable assistance when I called in to book these excursions. The first gentleman at Viator that I spoke to was from Boston and booked our hotel pickups at a hotel very near the hotel where we were staying.
All the tour drivers were very knowledgeable about the area and provided invaluable insight to what we were seeing. They were very courteous and answered all the questions posed to them.
The day was beautifully organized. Our tour guide, Chris, was pleasant and informative. It was a wonderful experience for all of us and we couldn't have asked for a better day.
Fantastic day. The mansions were magnificent and well worth seeing. The town itself was picture postcard and lived up to expectations and more. Our driver was extremely knowledgable and courteous throughout even adapting the timetable slightly for individuals because of the weather without disrupting the tour itinerary. A value packed day. Thank you all!
Enjoyable day visiting the Elms and Breakers. The driver also drove us around Providence and was knowledgable on history. We had a nice lunch in town and visited the shops and ended with a nice walk on a portion of the Cliff Walk.
I booked this tour because it was challenging for me to get to Newport on my own. I would say the tour was worth it. The tour guide showed up at my hotel on time as scheduled. After picking up two other groups we were on our way. There were itineraries on our seats with the full schedule for the day. We were offered snacks and water on the trip. There was one pit stop on the way to Newport and we arrived by 9:30 am. We had 1 hour 45 min to tour the Breakers which was enough time to do the audio tour which was included and the grounds. Then we did a driving tour for about 1.5 hours which included a couple stops for photo ops. We had a 1 hour 15 minute lunch break then the option of doing the cliff walk or staying in town. By 3pm we were at the Elms and had 1.5 hours to tour that mansion. For me, touring the Elms felt a little rushed. It may be because it was the end of the day and I was moving slower but I had to rush through the grounds to make it back to the bus. I was exhausted by the end of the day. We were back in Boston by 6:30pm. The tour was great! I would love to see the other mansions and would consider this tour again. Highly recommended.
A wonderful day, beautiful scenery, an interesting and informative driver and 2 amazing old homes plus a delicious lunch in Newport. A tour I'd recommend to everyone. Than you
Our trip to the Newport mansions was outstanding. Our guide, Chris, was a source of much interesting information and the mansions themselves were awe-inspiring. The colonial town of Newport, also part of this greatly varied experience, was also fascinating. We particularly appreciated Chris's flexibility which enabled everyone on the tour to fill their free time as they wished, and allowed us in particular to tour a third mansion. A top-quality experience
This trip was well timed and well executed. Our driver and guide Chris was excellent both on the road and with his local and historical knowledge. There was a full itinerary with two mansions, a drive around Newport, time for lunch and/or shopping and the opportunity for a short cliff walk. I would highly recommend with the proviso that travelling in April probably means there is significantly less traffic on the roads, and fewer visitors in and around the mansions and Newport.
