Nafe was an excellent guide showing us behind the scenes at several great restaurants, delicious samples of food, and interesting information. An all-round great experience well worth the time.
This was a nice little behind-the-scenes culinary history tour. We got to see some really great gowns and relics from Mardi Gras celebrations of days gone by, we had a little session on the spices and flavors used in Creole and Cajun cooking, and of course, we got to taste many of the foods that make New Orleans of the best best foodie cities!
The tour is an excellent combination of eating local favorites and learning about the place they are prepared. The pace is easy but never dull. The tour guide made sure there were places to sit at each stop, something which is not always done. My wife and I are glad we took the tour.
The tour was educational. Tours live and die by their guides and this guy (naïf), “you’re safe with Naïf” knew his history, and the history of most of the people we met along the way. Food was all good but lost a point for only red beans at one stop and only gumbo at another.
Enjoyed Naïf, our guide a lot. Very interesting and delicious tour. Talk about good!
Our tour guide Annette was enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and a good storyteller. The group size of 12 was comfortable and it was easy to hear her at all times. We visited tujagues, antoines, arnauds, Leah's pralines and creole delicacies. We sampled a po' boy, rice and beans, turtle soup, shrimp with remoulade sauce, a praline and seafood gumbo. The portions were small but satisfying. We learned the history of the food, the traditions and the oldest restaurants in New Orleans. We toured the historic restaurants as well. It was a fascinating and delicious 3 1/2 hours. There was time to shop at a couple of the stores. It was a good balance of walking and sitting.
Fun walk around the French Quarter learning about the food that makes NOLA famous. Our guide was knowledgable and friendly, but a bit low energy.
Amazing tour. The food was delicious and we learned so much about the history and culture of New Orleans. Naif was great, extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting New Orleans.
Our guide, David Feldman, was a joy. He was informative, amusing and had obviously good links with the different establishments we visited. He promptly followed up the tour with an email containing a resume of the places visited and recipes of foods tasted. Excellent!
Mary our Guide met us at the Restaurant and was very knowledgeable. She had a lot of character and knew a lot about the History. We got out moneys worth with the tastings and got to go behind the scenes in several Restaurants. There was so much more to see than I realized and behind closed doors, we got to see separate dining rooms, where the movie stars and higher ups ate. Also got to see a museum above one Restaurant where the owner had all of her Mardi Gras gowns and costumes. I highly recommend it.
The guide was an older lady that was VERY hard to hear. She didn't know or would not project her voice into the crowd. She also didn't know how to keep the conversation interesting and flowing to make time flow by so the afternoon seemed to take forever to painfully get through. Maybe if we would have had a different tour guide this would have been better but almost everyone in the group. Not just our party but the entire group was dissatisfied. I would personally never use this company again for a tour.
Do this trip!! It was definitely a highlight of our week in New Orleans. This was our 2nd time to New Orleans but our first time without our children. We were looking for something to do that we wouldn't normally do with our kids, something different, but also something that we were curious about. This walking tour was a perfect fit. We had Naif as our guide and there couldn't be a more perfect job for this gentlemen. He is a retired History teacher and born and raised in the area. He was excellent. The tour would have been good anyhow, but Naif's personality made it more interesting. The restaurants/pubs we visited were interesting and historical. The food at each stop was different and good. Not too filling, but enough. My husband and I bought our own drinks at a couple of stops to pair with our food. Interesting - a bit of exercise, history and food. A great way to check out the French Quarter as well. If you have 3 hours you should check it out!!
Outstanding experience! Guide was very knowledgeable and had a great deal of energy and enthusiasm. Food stops were spectacular - varied, interesting and great tastes. Had the extraordinary experience of thoroughly exploring Antoine's. Visit with culinary expert and her explanation of making roux's was excellent. A terrific experience and one I would highly recommend. I love going on food tours for the lessons in history as well as learning about local cuisine and getting a taste and this tour was one of the best!
We had high hopes for this tour and it was outstanding. The food tasting was excellent! The history behind the food, traditions behind the cuisine, and the history throughout the tour were exceptional. You do not need to have lunch before the 1:30 start of the tour. Naif was our leader and he was terrific. I have been in New Orleans several times, but our group learned more than other visits combined. Very glad we choose this tour. As one of my party said after the tour..This was a home run!
Our tour was fantastic. The foods were delicious and our guide, Naif, was absolutely sensational. We were two couples in a group of 10 on the tour. We can highly recommend this tour and our guide, Naif.
We booked last minute on this tour and as it happened my husband and myself were the only 2. Our guide Rose was fantastic. She was attentive and her local knowledge on the history, culinary delights and restaurants was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would recommend it to anyone.
