Make your way to the central Moab office where you meet your guides and receive an orientation and safety briefing. Then hop in the van that takes you to the put-in site along the Fisher Towers section of the Colorado River. Though situated not too far from town, this part of the river feels wild and remote with its soaring canyon walls, massive rock spires and abundant wildlife.
Get fitted in a lifejacket and other provided gear before hitting the water. Your rafting trip features oar rafts operated by your guide, although inflatable kayaks are usually available upon request. If you choose to ride in an inflatable kayak, your guide gives a paddle lesson and time to practice following directional commands that are needed when paddling.
Once you’re ready, step into your raft and prepare for a thrilling ride. This section of the Colorado River provides some Class II and III rapids with some bouncy moments on the water. Expect a few splashes too.
Your guide rows the oar boat while you hang on during the white-water rapids and hang out in calmer stretches of water. Take in classic western vistas between rapids, when you can take pictures and hop in the river to swim. Learn all about the human and natural history of the Colorado River from your naturalist guides, and gain a better understanding of the river and canyon. At the end of your half-day tour, your guide returns you to your starting point in central Moab.

This was my first rafting trip and just perfect for the beginning. Our guide Emilie hosted us with a great sandwich lunch by the Colorado river before entering the raft.I have to say; I felt super safe the whole trip. Emelie made this trip the best; even our weather changed quick and the Colorado River got little bit raugh, all was perfect. Her knowledge about the area is great.Make sure you are dressed proper and can just jump in the River. It can get hot; but there is an option to just jump off your float.I would definitely book here again and can suggest this team to young and older customers.
Really enjoyed our float trip on the Fisher Tower Half Day. Nice lunch before we started our journey. Keif shared amazing information along our journey and worked like a devil in the low water autumn run. Thanks for a delightful afternoon. Very professional group. Definitely a "do over".
The company was wonderful! Guides, food, wait times, etc. were great. It was more of a float/sightseeing tour than white water rafting. If you are looking for adventure and thrills, I would pick another trip.
Fun trip. Colton was very knowledgeable and helpful. Learned a lot about the area and saw a lot of wildlife.
This was a great half-day trip! Easy rafting down the river, low risk, and some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever witnessed. Our guide Owen was friendly and super knowledgable about the area, the landscape, the geological features, and the river. I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for something pretty quick and easy to enjoy while in Moab.
The staff were excellent. They were organized, friendly and very good at what they did. The equipment was in great shape, and the life jackets did not smell. The scenery was outstanding. But if you are looking for lots of white water you will not get it on this trip - look at one of the other trips Navtech offers. This is a good trip for those unsure if white water rafting is for them or families with small children. We enjoyed it, though.
Unless you are planning a water fight and to get soaked from it, avoid it! For most of the trip the guides encouraged a fight with the other boats, literally throwing buckets of water to the paying guests, also those who didn't want to engage.
Too bad, the scenery is beautiful and could've been nice
Tubs was awesome!!! Not a lot of white water but that was fine seeing as I had young kids with me. All guides were very friendly and helpful. I specifically requested Tubs as our guide because of the reviews on Trip Advisor...good move! He made it so much fun!! Warren, our driver, was also great and a wealth of information. Highly recommend!!!!
Overall it was more than worth it. It passed the we're glad we did it test. But there were some things they could do better.
Here's what went well. Check-in was smooth and we got going on time. During the van ride to where they dropped us in the river, one of the guides Sean? was telling lots of stories about the area. The rafts felt very sturdy and safe. They seat around ten people each, so expect to share one with other parties. Our guide Keith? was a strong, expert rower who gave us a good brief safety orientation as we got under way and handled the raft well throughout the trip. We got to pick which part of the raft to be in: up front to get splashed more, or in back to stay dryer. I was up front, and got totally drenched by waves which in 100 heat is wonderful.
The ride was calm and leisurely, only class 1-2 rapids. This varies by season, rainfall, snowmelt, etc., which affect the depth and flow of the river. The scenery was just what we'd hoped for: great views of canyons, cliffs, mesas, and mountains. This is a great way to see miles of scenery while someone else does the work, and you can jump out and go swimming when the guide says it's safe. At the end you put in at a ramp and get picked up and driven back to NAVTEC's office where you started.
In the middle of a wide river there is no shade of course, so you'd better bring a hat and water bottle, and sunblock well. NAVTEC advises you about this and other things. Take their advice. And bring snacks.
Here's what could have gone better. The van ride to and from feels very long with no air conditioning on a hot Moab summer day. The van was noisy enough I couldn't hear most of what the guide was saying from where I was.
Our guide once we got in the boat Keith? was much more interested in talking about himself than about what we were floating past. Dude, the trip is not about you. We learned almost nothing about the area while in his boat. That was the big downside. Other reviewers rave about their informative guides. Good for them. Just know that guides are not all equal, and they have a lot to do with the quality of the trip.
Getting back into the raft after swimming is a challenge. Unless you're in very good shape you can't do it alone and others must hoist you, and it can hurt. It'd be helpful if they had some rope ladder-ish thing to make it easier.
The wait to get picked up by the van after the rafts landed was pretty long, at least it felt long in that heat. There may have been some good reason why they weren't waiting for us near the ramp, but nobody explained it.
Still, like I said, we were glad we did it. Ask for Sean.
This was a very laid back trip. Lot's of opportunity to swim and cool off in the hot Utah sun.
Tubs was an amazing tour guide! Awesome afternoon on the river. Would definitely do it again!
Wow wow wow! It was perfect! Vlad our guide was awesome as was Tubs! We had small children in our raft and this was the perfect one for them. Hit some Class II rapids. Left us older ones wanting more. It was our first time to do this and we will definitely be back. Actually thinking of doing the overnight and hitting some higher class rapids. Would highly recommend for first timers and children. Great experience!
We had a lovely and competent captain and guide filled with interesting facts and humorous stories. As we were there in August, and we took the beginners trip, the ride was relaxing and meandering with some moderate whitewater. Fun!
very friendly guides. I would have preferred more rapids. I don't know if when looking at trips if the scale of rapids 1-5 was in the description. We did not receive info on what to wear and bring, while others had.
Water was high, but that was not overly detrimental. Fast flow, and some big waves gave us several welcome soakings!
The trip was great. The guides Cheyenne and Jonah were excellent. Our family of four would highly recommend the trip. We did the half day trip with lunch. Remember to take your own water bottle/container.
