This tour met our expectations and beyond. True. It is a long day but the hardship of driving was not ours. Eddie, the bus driver, did an excellent job. His safe driving skills were greatly appreciated. Nestor picked us up and transported us to the larger bus. Again, a safe knowledgeable driver.
After arriving in Key West after a relaxing bus trip from Fort Lauderdale, we took a local narrated train-trolley trip (paid there) from the center of town to see and tour all around and hear about this very, very historical town. We also watched some of the marathon run going on that day. Since you can repeat the train-trolley trip at no charge, we took the ride with a different driver to hear and learn more! Overall this was "A" plus!
If this is the only way you can get to Key West for a one day visit, then it's a good plan. We grabbed our Ft Lauderdale shuttle at 5:45 am. I recommend bringing your own snacks and coffee. It was kind of cool driving through South Beach and Miami so early to see what it looks like when it's quiet. We stopped for 20 minutes in Key Largo for a bathroom break and to grab a quick snack at Dunk'n Doughnuts or the McDonalds it's not enough time, but it's understood there is a timeline. As other readers have said, there is a FREE hop on hop off bus running all day at the point where you are dropped off. The drivers were very good and upon our arrival back to Miami, they made sure we were the first ones dropped off to get our shuttle back to Ft. Lauderdale.
This trip was worth it! Be prepared for a long day. Good opportunity to visit key west without the stress of driving. 6 hours is a good amount of time to be there just make sure you have your day planned in advance to utilize the most of your time. Only thing is as far as the communication about the transportation from the morning to the evening was a little confusing. We had a shuttle (which was great) pick us up from our hotel in the morning to bring us to Miami to get on the shuttle bus. Where on the way back the shuttle bus is the one that brought us back (which we had to ask).
If you are joining from fort laLauderdaget ready to experience some early day and really late night. The rest of the tour is fine.
The trip is too long without any interesting stops on the way. The bus driver was very rushed and preferred to speak Spanish his native tongue and left English to a minimum. As result a boring trip!
This is a very long day be prepared for that. I could see that the older people on the tour were very perky at 6am during pickup time but at 9pm as we were dropping off they were exhausted! It was fine for us being younger and more physically fit. It's a long bus journey but enjoyable and pretty....mostly looking out to sea and watching the various islands go by. The driver was the guide and spoke in English and Spanish...but I didn't always understand his strong accented English. What I did understand was mostly informative and interesting. He sold excursions on the journey to Key West and we decided to go on the Glass Bottom Boat tour. It was easy to find and quite enjoyable although the Captain gave us the chance to get a refund before we sailed as the water was quite cloudy and we may not be able to see much. We didn't take up the refund and we didn't see much! But it was a nice cruise. I'm glad we went because 6 hours in Key West is quite a while if you have no plans! This tour gives you the chance to stay overnight should you wish to and get the return journey the next day....maybe that would be a better idea if we had more time. With all this in mind...we had a good day out and it was ok value for money. I could recommend this tour. And thank you for picking up at a hotel not on your list xx
Key West was great the trip there was good but long.driver was good but could have narrated more .We started in Fort lauderdale and took almost 3 hours to pick up everyone before heading for key west and had to drop them off on way home the trip thru downtown Miami was great but that 3 hours dropping people off made a long day almost unbearable
I'd like to thank the previous reviews I read, because we knew just what to expect. This day excursion was Awesome. We were scheduled to be picked up at the Pelican Beach resort at 5:40 AM. We got there early and paid 14 for our car to be valet parked. While we were waiting, we sat on the deck outside the back of the Hotel. It was just amazing. The ocean waves sounded wonderful. We stayed on the deck for about 20 minutes, then we went back up front to the lobby area and sat on the rocking chairs, waiting on the driver. It was 5:45 when the driver picked us up. I was on the second digit to make the call because i was getting nervous, when he drove up. Great. We drove to Miami to pick up a few more folks, then we were on our way. Our driver was knowledgeable and courteous. Our bus had wi-fi, but you had to ask for the passwords. Everything worked out perfectly. Our driver pointed out the highlights in English and Spanish. Very nice guy with a sense of humor to boot!. We stopped for a quick 20 minute break, then we made our way to Key West and spent 5 hours touring the city which was narrated by a couple different guys, as we used the hop on hop off tour. All in, this was well worth the time and effort. We had a wonderful time!
Our driver was a little over enthusiastic and difficult to understand. His command of English was fair. Everything was repeated in Spanish which was annoying. The trip began with a very early pickup - 5:45 am and we were delivered to a larger bus in Miami - none of which had been communicated to us prior to getting on the smaller van or even throughout the first part of the journey. Then we spent the next two plus hours making multiple stops picking people up! Had we known there were so many pick up spots, we would not have booked this trip.
Great trip. Great weather. Bus driver Edwardo was the best. We snorkled for the afternoon and loved it.
We had a great day and would have given this tour top marks except for one thing. There was a festival in Key West the day we went and the little train wasn't running which the driver told us about on the way. However, he didn't tell us that there was a hop on hop off bus running that could have taken us around. We found this out from one of the bus drivers about 5 minutes before we were due to board the coach back to Miami.
Really, really long day - so many stops to pick up other folks on the way there and back but ultimately, it was worth it. I think I might fly there next time though. Also, wifi on the tour bus did not work.
This was perfect for our group of 10 who wanted to get a taste of Key West while visiting Fort Lauderdale. It was a long day but the coach was comfortable. They accommodated our group by picking us up in our hotel which was not on the regular list. We had just enough time in Key West to enjoy a boat trip, a wonderful lunch and a quick trip around town for some shopping.
It was nice to be able to get to Key West without having to drive ourselves. The problem was that we were the first on the bus at a very early hour and spent over an hour picking up other people from Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and one other stop at Key Largo. It was a waste of time. On the way home we got to do it backwards but at least when we got to Miami and dropped the people off, they got a smaller vehicle and took us directly to Ft. Lauderdale without the many stops in between. It was a long day. I would not recommend this except if this is the only way you have to get to Key West. Key West was great. We got on the trolley and got to see many sights. It was a hop on, hop off whenever you wanted.
I absolutely had the time of my life! I'd highly reccined the snorkeling! Loved it! The tour guide on the bus and the boat crew were fantastic!
Very organized, everything ran on time. Peter our tour guide is very fluent in several languages, and he was entertaining. Bus driver very good, bus was clean. They use good vendors as we booked a glass bottom boat tour through Peter, but when we arrived they advised the water was rough and visibility might not be as clear because of it and where offered a refund without any hassles. We would book with viator again and enjoyed our day.
This was a great way to see Key West. No hassle with driving and learned a lot from the bus driver. The driver made special arrangements on the way back that night to have another driver pick us up in Miami to take us back to Fort Lauderdale while he delivered the Miami people. It got us back an hour earlier than we had planned which was WONDERFUL because it had been a long day and we were tired.
