After a day of sightseeing in Buenos Aires, end your evening on a high note at a local closed-door restaurant, an exclusive dining trend that's all the rage in Buenos Aires. Argentina is known for its beef, of course, and you can find out why during this 5-course steak dinner at a private house in the popular Palermo district. This authentic Argentine meal is prepared on the grill by Chef Luis, a native Argentine with more than 15 years of experience. Known as an ‘asado,’ this ritual of eating a barbecued meal with a group of friends (or fellow travelers) is a piece of Argentine culture that you don’t want to miss. Wine pairings are included!

Buenos Aires' closed-door restaurants, or puertas cerradas, offer you a truly insider look at the city's exciting dining scene. Some of the best chefs in the city, including Chef Luis, are working behind these closed doors, providing a desirable and unforgettable dinner experience for locals and visitors alike.
When you arrive at the private house in Palermo — one of Buenos Aires' most popular barrios, known for its trendy restaurants and bars — meet your hostess, who will show you to your seat. The intimate, private setting of the house is perfect for your asado experience, during which you’ll learn about the ingredients, techniques and rituals that go into this sacred Argentine tradition of eating barbecued meat, drinking wine and socializing with a small group of good friends (or in your case, other travelers who may become good friends before the night is over!).
Before the first course is served, head over to the loft’s parilla (grill), where you can see the grilling in action and ask your host any questions you have about asado cooking techniques. Or, walk over to the loft's floor-to-ceiling windows or step out onto the deck to admire views of the city.
Your 5-course dinner starts with a traditional picada (meat and cheese platter) followed by an ensalada mixta (mixed salad). Then enjoy a third course of grilled starters called achuras, a very authentic part of the asado experience that consists of chorizo and other meats. Finally, dig into the main event, your 12-ounce (350-gram) Argentine steak, grilled to perfection and accompanied by a side of garlic mashed potatoes. A mouthwatering dessert will end your unforgettable dining experience.
Menu (each course is paired with Argentine wine):
• 1st course: Traditional Argentine picada (salamis, cheese and bread)
• 2nd course: Contemporary mixed salad
• 3rd course: Argentine grilled starters (cheese, chorizo, sausage, blood sausage, pork flank steak and sweetbread)
• 4th course: 12-oz (350-gram) steak served right off the grill and accompanied by a side of garlic mashed potatoes and mixed salad; you may choose your grilling preference — rare, medium rare or medium
• 5th course: Dessert (varies by day)
• Wines change daily; possible wineries include Mevi, Carinae, Richardi Fazio Menegazzo and Familio Blanco

I would recommend that everyone do this tour also. The food was well presented and prepared. The different stages of each meal was appetizing and the set up was very close knit so you were able to speak to new people. We had to catch a taxi back to hotel afterwards thats the only thing I didn't like about this as it was finished about 12 midnight and it would have been nice if Viator had someone waiting for us even if we had to pay the extra for it. But in any event the taxi driver who collected us we still talk about him as he almost killed us and he broke every stop light ... and they were quite a few stop lights and he almost ran over people and I am assuming it would normally take 30 mins to get back to our hotel hedid it under 10 mins....I was so scared but I survived it thank God. Other than that we had an awesome time.
This was an excellent evening with outstanding food and wines. Worth every penny and highly recommended. The 5 courses presented Argentinian food for each course paired with an appropriate wine. Hosting was friendly and service excellent. If you only do one outing in Buenos Aires....do this!
Steaks by Luis was amazing. Food was the best food we ate all week in Buenos Aires. Luis and his staff were friendly, funny and entertaining. I can highly recommend this tour.

Great dining experience, enjoyed in good company with other diners and well hosted.
What a fantastic and unique experience!! We took a taxi to the location, which is a door with the address on it ... no other markings. That's part of the mystique of the entire night. Pressed the doorbell and we were let into the waiting area for about 10 minutes until the rest of the group arrived. 10 people in all. Then it started with sparkling wine and introductions. A great venue with an unbelievable amount of spectacular food and drinks for all. I dont want to give it all away, but it's amazing. You should try this.
This is an amazing experience and everyone visiting Buenos Aires should try it!!!
Wow!!! Great food and fun!! Top notch service and dining with fellow travellers was a super experience. Highly recommend - bring your appetite! You will love this experience! Carla from Vancouver, Canada
One of our favorite memories of Buenos Aires. I highly recommend this dining experience. The food, people, location were top notch in my opinion.
Great experience amazing food with great people attending for an enjoyable evening overall
Terrific from start to finish. The food was amazing one of our friends who went with us said it was the best steak he has ever eaten, period and the information about Argentine food and asados made everything that much better. I highly recommend doing this. If you can do it at the beginning of your visit, you will have a better understanding of Argentine food generally and what you see on parrilla menus.
A sensational evening and such a great introduction to Argentine cuisine. Even though there were just four of us, the team made it feel very special. So much amazing food to eat, you must go hungry. Their preparation and knowledge was remarkable, and it was definitely one of the highlights of our Argentine adventure.
This was absolutely amazing. The food and wine were excellent. A great night. Definately recommend.
An exceptional experience start to finish. Excellent, freshly prepared food reflecting the traditional Argentine family asado. Each course is nicely paired with a well chosen local wine liberally poured. The hosts are gracious and informative. The evening we attended we were joined by an interesting, international and mostly youthful group that made for interesting conversation.
My best advice is to pace yourself carefully with the appetizers and abundant mixed grill as the grilled steak course will probably be the best of your life....and it's huge! Done exactly to your specifications. Even going sparingly on the early courses I had enough take-home steak for 2 super delicious sandwiches the following day.
2nd piece of advice is plan to take a taxi to your home base.
Highly recommended and truly a good value.
Highly recommended and great value.
Great dinner at Steaks by Luis, make sure you bring cash for a tip - though they'll accept card for the tip. The food was amazing and we enjoyed the experience. There were 8 people total the night we were there and enough food for 12-14 people, so come very hungry.
Don't be fooled by the nondescript exterior - just ring the doorbell and enter a wonderful experience. The staff were wonderful hosts whom immediately made us feel at home and encouraged mingling etc. And the food - honestly the best meal we have had in any travels and we travel 3-4 times a year world-wide! Go, and enjoy - but go hungry as it is a lot of food!
