What to Expect What to Expect

Train of the End of the World.

The End of the World Station

he End of the World Train invites you to relive the last 7 km. of the old convicts train history, which left from the prison located in the city of Ushuaia towards the slopes of Mount Susana in order to obtain different materials for construction. On board the train you will hear the story and you will be delighted with the magnificent landscapes, composed by the zigzagging Pipo River, Macarena cascade, tree cemetery and the beautiful forest, travelling through part of the inaccessible Tierra del Fuego National Park, on board a historic railway with its steam locomotives and elegant large window carriages.

Quemado Bridge

it runs through the “Cañadón del Toro” and crosses the River Pipo on the “Puente Quemado” (Burnt Bridge), where you can see the wooden ruins of the old bridge underneath the new one.

La Macarena Waterfall Station

After that, the train stops at the “Estación Cascada La Macarena” (Macarena Station Waterfall) where visitors can go down to a reconstructed Indian campsite, typical of one of the four native tribes that lived in Ushuaia for thousands of years: the Yamanas. at this point it is possible to go up the steps to see the Macarena Waterfall, whose source is in the Del Martial mountain range, offering a fabulous view of the Pipo River Valley.

The train enters the Tierra del Fuego National Park.

Tree Cemetery

Following the Pipo River the train crosses different sites where the prisoners worked every day for 50 years cutting down trees. Skirting the “Turbal” (Bog), a raised sphagnum moss bog typical of Tierra del Fuego, the train arrives at the “Estación del Parque” (National Park Station).

National Park Station

At this point, during high season, visitors can make use of the toilet coaches. Passengers can then either return by train to the Estación del Fin del Mundo (End of the World Station) or continue their excursion deeper into the Tierra del Fuego National Park on pre-booked tour buses. During the journey passengers will be accompanied by a bilingual guide (Spanish-English), who will relate the history of the "Convict Train".
