We had to be tendered in and was 20 minutes early, but our guide was already there with a sign. It's the 500th year anniversary of the first circumnavigation of the Earth accomplished by Ferdinand Magellan so this was an appropriate tour! Though the Victoria ship is a replica, but a very good one, going inside the ship put me in awe as to how how these men survived to finish their trip in 3 years. Made me feel so spoiled in our cruise ship! This tour also included a cemetery, city tour, and a delicious wine and empanada for lunch in a house which looked over the Strait of Magellan. They even gave us a delicious snack into the tour. Our guide was excellent, thank you!! Learned a lot about the city and it's history.
The Punta Arenas Shore Excursion 01 Mar 2019: Fort Bulnes and City Tour is indeed a good tour for me to understand the city's history and appreciate the beauty of the Strait of Magellans. The visit to the park is a must for those who loves nature. My experience of the tour would have been very satisfactory should the guide be more organized in conducting the tour. He appeared to be a bit green.
Hopefully, over time as he gains more expierence, he will become a good guide.
We saw many sites and enjoyed lunch. The guide spoke excellent English. It was cold and very windy but worth the trip even w the weather.
Good overview of the city and trip to Fort Bulnes. Knowledgeable guide. Mid day snack was okay. Would recommend this tour.
Our guide Gerado did an excellent job managing a challenging group of differing tastes and physical abilities. Informative and passionate about his city, we found him an excellent guide. For lunch he took us into Kiosco Roca for a snack. The place was completely packed with locals with barely enough room to get inside and he helped us place our order. We had the opportunity to visit the Nao Victoria and Beagle replicas, cemetery, central plaza and Salesian museum before driving down the coast to Fort Bulnes. We had to pay entry fees along the way, which was a bit unusual, but clearly outlined in the tour promotion. Having spent time in the US, his English was excellent, and enjoyed the places that he visited so much that he even planned to go to Fort Bulnes himself the next day with his own family.
