We very much enjoyed the trip, learned a lot and had a lovely time with Francisco. As he would say, no se arrugo, and we will soon make a vaca to come back again.
Francisco was extremely knowledgeable about Chilean history and provided a lot of context for the tour. The place he chose for is to have lunch was excellent. It had stunning views of Valparaiso and was one of the better meals I had while traveling. Highly recommend.
Fantastic day in Viña Del Mar and Valparaíso with Francisco! He did everything he could to make sure we had a great tour! This day trip from Santiago was absolutely worth it! Our guide was a wealth of information about Chilean history and we thoroughly enjoyed our day!
A small group tour with a knowledgeable guide who is very accommodating. Well worth the trip!
A full day with a professional, experienced, polite, enthusiastic guide, Francisco, a real history buff. The stop for wine was a nice wind-up to the tour.
Good points - Small group in mini bus
Great walking tour of Valparaiso with informative guide
Pickup from airport hotel at indicated time
Lunch at own expense was a a good seafoood Restaurant overlooking the city. Bit pricey but food was great.
Gabriel was our guide for this day trip. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. On the way out you make a winery stop at a very nice winery we did the tasting - very good. Valparaiso and Vin Del Mar are large ocean front cities. Very dense. Valparaiso is an old port city that has seen better times but great views and plenty to see.
We wanted to see the Pacific during our trip to Santiago. We booked about 3 weeks before departing for Chile. The online booking was simple and straightforward through Trip Advisor and Viator. Gabriel (Gabe) was our guide for the day. He picked us up from our hotel promptly at the agreed upon time from emails with Alexandra and set off in his van with another couple. On the way, he shared with us some interesting facts about the region. His English was great. We made a stop at a vineyard, Veramonte where we tasted some great local wines and learned some history about their unique production methodologies. Onward to Vina del Mar. The city was lovely with a beachy feel and colourful houses. We drove up and down the beach to see the walruses and visit the local Easter Island relic and main Plaza in the downtown. We then stopped for lunch at the Castillo del Mar restaurant. A little bit pricey, but this restaurant had excellent food and excellent views of the ocean. After lunch Gabe came to meet us and we travelled onwards to Valparaiso. Again colourful houses with lots of artistic graffiti gave the town a bohemian beachy vibe. We drove all around Valparaiso, up and down the narrow roadways. We stopped at the Nuredo house for a great view of the city and coastline. Then we stopped at an excellent viewpoint of the working, busy port, it was interesting to watch the all of the cargo containers moving around. Some small souvenir shops were here as well. When we were done, the drive back to Santiago was uneventful and quick. I must admit I fell asleep in the van as the day had been so chock full of sight-seeing and we had such a great time. The group was very small, only one other couple so it was a very intimate and personal tour, which was exactly what we were looking for. While it might have been possible to arrange all of these things as well as transportation on our own, the packaging of the winery and trip to the coast all into one package was fantastic since it was all done in one day and we were able to make the most or our time on our short stay in Santiago. We would highly recommend this tour to any travellers looking into this since it is such a nice package covering different things in one day with a knowledgeable and friendly host.
WONDERFUL!! Our guide Alvaro was fantastic. There were three couples on our tour. Alvaro was so knowledgable, he explained the history and made what we thought a would be a boreing drive from Santiago to Valparaiso a totally interesting and enjoyable drive. We felt very comfortable and safe with Alvaro, who had our interest at heart. Alvaro made us feel special, we can't thank him enough, what a great way to spend the last day of our holiday before flying back to Australia.
I thoroughly recommend this tour. Thanks for the memories Alvaro and Viator!
An absolutely fantastic day out. Our guide, Gabriel, was a really cool guy who was passionate about his job, knowledgeable and spoke perfect English and never made us feel like we were being rushed even though we had a lot to cover in one day. Great locations, great food, great information. Could not recommend enough!
