Shop for produce, visit a tortilla factory and discover interesting facts about Mexico’s culinary heritage. What to Expect What to Expect

This 5-hour foodie experience is a window into the culinary culture of Puerto Vallarta and Mexico, providing a deeper understanding of the region's cuisine. Meet your guide at Galerias Vallarta Shopping Mall and then hop in a comfortable minivan. Make your first stop at a bustling outdoor market to buy fresh ingredients needed for the cooking class. 
Next, visit a local tortilla factory to purchase the dough that you'll use to roll out fresh tortillas. Armed with fresh ingredients, head over to the master chef’s house to start your class. The main courses change daily (see
Itinerary below), but expect to learn how to make salsa de molcajete (made in a mortar with fresh or dried chiles) and dessert. Then try your hand at anything from chiles rellenos and tamales to tacos and fish ceviche. Perhaps cook mole poblano and learn about the more than 27 ingredients, in addition to chocolate, that compose this delicious sauce. Top it off with a tequila or mezcal tasting!
The best part of this class is that you get to eat what you cook. Sit down and enjoy of a well-earned feast and good conversation with the chef. Afterward, you're dropped off at the starting point with a full belly and new skills in how to cook Mexican cuisine.

Wednesday: Mexican Pacific Sea Food Recipes: Fish, Shrimp and Octopus

Thursday: Chile Relleno and Tortillas soups

Friday: Mole Poblano and Tamales & Hand Made Chocolate from Cocoa Beans (our signature class)

Daily: Home made Salsas, Guacamoles and Tortillas + 1 or 2 side dishes to serve a 3 courses meal

My friends and I signed up for the Cooking Vallarta class after reading previous reviews and we were all thrilled we attended. Enrique, his wife and team were extremely courdial and knowledgeable about the recipes and history of the food we cooked. The food was delicious and fun to make together as a group. They included every one of us and made us all feel important and involved. I love to cook and look forward to making some of the recipes he has sent to my email. If you and your friends or family are looking for an authentic cooking experience we highly recommend Cooking Vallarta.

This cooking class was a great experience! The tour of the market was fun and interesting. We learned so much and ate so much delicious food in the class. The food really was fantastic, and it set a higher bar for all Mexican food. The tequila and mezcal tasting was a fun part of the class as well!

Great class. The food was and tequila was absolutely amazing. The made every effort to make us feel at home. Our cruise ship arrived late at the port. There was a mix-up with the time conversion and we ended up missing the 2nd half of the tour. However, the chef came back and picked up me and my sister at the mall. We had an excellent time there home was beautiful and they were patent with some of the people in our groups who were impatient and bit intrusive during the tour. Overall, I would definitely do this again me and my sister loved this tour. It was worth it!

This was awesome. The host lead the class in his house after we went to the market to get educated on what to buy and how, which was lovely. The food was great, and he emailed us the recipies afterward.

A wonderful experience of true flavor of Mexican food. The market is amazing ! To be able to go to the Chef's house, make many different courses, and then eat all we made, was a highlight of our time in Mexico!

It was an awesome experience! We had 20 people in our class which made it better because we were able to learn and make more food.
Its so fun to share experiences with people you dont know! We made tacos al pastor, chilies rellenos, guacamole, various salsas plus we were served tequila and mezcal! Enrique and his wife were very nice and we all enjoyed their company. As Enrique says mi casa es su casa

Two weeks ago, my daughter and I spent two days cooking with Enrique, Tony, Ery, and their warm and knowledgeable staff in Puerto Vallarta. We spent some time each day going to the market to get ingredients for the day's meal, listening to Enrique's interesting stories about Mexican food, the markets, and the fish and meats, vegetables, tortilla dough, and Mexican cooking in general, and then helping to prepare and cook what we got at the markets. We enjoyed every minute of both days and really appreciated the warm hospitality and welcome all of us received.

This was a wonderful experience!!! Enrique was AMAZING!! He took us to the market and showed us around. He provided helpful information regarding the food, but also added in historical information and tidbits. He then took us back to his BEAUTIFUL home to do the cooking class. He got everyone involved in the preparation and the food was delicious!!! I am looking forward to taking another class next time we are in Puerto Vallarta!!!

This is a Must do on your list when visiting Puerto Vallarta. Actually, when we next visit Cabo or Play del Carmen their other locations, we will make sure we schedule a cooling class in. Our family, daughters included, really enjoyed learning about the food that represents the Mexican Culture. Enrique and Eri, along with Tony and the ladies, made the actual cooking of the meal a fun experience.

I highly encourage all Foodies to plan on attending a class, you won't regret it!

It was more than than i expected. Not only making delicious food, but lessons about Mexican food history and local ingredients and how to use them. Tour in the market was very good. Now I have good knowledge to start my own Mexican kitchen. Mr. Enrique and his staff are really top and enjoyable. Absolutely five stars.

Cookin Puerto Vallarta

A visit to an authentic local grocery, fish market and tortilla factory was followed by a masterful lesson in Mexican cuisine.

Chef Enrique was right on time to meet our group of nine and toured the local mercado for a lesson in Mexican history and the origin and use of traditional ingredients.

Enrique's kitchen was very clean and well-staffed. Knives and dishes, pans and equipment were top notch and new. Enrique followed good food-handling protocol and insisted the guests washed their hands before beginning the class. Enrique was spotless in his white uniform smock.

There was continuous guest participation in the food, sauce and tortilla preparations with ongoing teaching and dialogue. An unexpected tequila and mescal tasting with a history lesson of both was a fun treat!

The outcome of our day was a filling and nutritious meal and a fun, interesting and well-executed experience with a great chef and his staff.
Highly recommended!!
