Located along the Los Cabos Corridor, Santa Maria Cove and Chileno Bay are regarded as two of the best snorkeling locations in the area. After hotel pickup in Los Cabos, travel with your guide by air-conditioned minivan to Santa Maria Cove, a horseshoe-shaped bay nestled between two bluffs.
The tranquil, turquoise waters of this protected marine sanctuary make this an ideal snorkeling and swimming place for families. After a safety briefing on the pink-sand beach, slip on your snorkeling gear and head out into the Pacific.
Follow your guide who points out where to see the most abundant or interesting marine life, and explains what you see in the water. As you float over rocky formations, be delighted by the schools of colorful fish and beautiful coral communities passing within view.
Return to shore for a water and granola-bar snack break before boarding the minivan to your second snorkeling site, Chileno Bay (Bahia Chileno). With the help of your guide, discover manta rays, moray eels, sea turtles, sea fans and reef formations, in addition to troves of tropical fish.
Then, soak up the sun and relax on the wide expanse of beach, or seek shade under the camp your guide has set up for you. After some down time, enjoy transport back to your hotel or the terminal.

We debated a boat versus van snorkeling trip and opted for the van and two locations to snorkel. Both locations were fantastic with excellent shower and change facilities and tons of fish from the minute you enter the water. The guide was also fantastic, providing us with excellent advice and ample time at each location, 1 hour plus! Well worth the effort and no need or advantage from our view in using a boat tour.
Our guide was Marco and he was fabulous. He picked us up at our rental condo and took us to both beaches. We expected a larger group but it was just the two of us and Marco. This was one of the best outings we had while in Cabo and highly recommend it. I'm not a stronger swimmer, but had no problems with instructions from Marco.
Our guide was the greatest! Mu really made the experience much better. There were lot's of fish, all different kinds and the beaches were wonderful. We recommend this excursion highly.
We took a cruise to the Mexican Riviera over New Years and I decided to book this excursion through Viator instead of the cruise ship. The company, High Tide Los Cabos, was real easy to work with. Although I went to the wrong OXXO station in Cabo, our guide Sergio was patient and waited until we made contact and finally connected at the right location. The tour was originally scheduled to visit Chileno Bay and Santa Maria. But Sergio suggested we spend our time at Chileno Bay due to the new developments being built at SM and we would have to park a ways away and walk through sand dunes to get to it. We agreed and off we went.
We were warned Chileno could be very busy since it was January 1st but the experience would be so much better. Chileno was packed but Sergio found a parking spot and set us all up with masks, snorkels and fins, and also granola bars and bottled water for snacks. He also set up big beach umbrellas for shade and gave us the lowdown on the area.
Although busy, Chileno Bay was more than worth it. As soon as we were waist deep in the water we were surrounded by fish. Sergio told us the beach is the cleanest and best in Cabo and he was right. He also told us its a marine park reserve which is why its always full of fish to look at. Sergio also told our kids exactly where to snorkel to see the best sights on the coral. Our adult kids went out a bit in to a cove to snorkel away from the crowds and saw even more fish, including a puffer.
It was a great day at the beach and went by very quickly. Sergio also pointed out historical areas and shared much of the history of the area while going to and back from CB. Our entire group of six had a great time and much of it was due to Sergio. We got back in plenty of time to get back on our cruise ship. It was a very satisfying day.
We got picked up in the correct location. My husband was snorkeling for the first time and had sufficient guidance to enjoy the activity. Places to change are nasty in Cabo. Apart from that, we had a great time!
Jules was our guide/instructor. He showed up on time and did everything the blurb said he should. His English was OK. He took time to explain the basics of snorkeling to us. He was very client oriented. When we were comfortable in the water, he attracted fish to our area by shredding a granola bar. It worked. It was a nice touch.. I don't have any complaints. It was a good experience.
Sergio did a great job. We did not expect that he was going to go out with us and show us around the bay. He was a great guide. He was on time and gave us great advice and tips.
We chose this excursion instead of an excursion from the ship because we wanted to snorkel and none of the ship excursions allowed me 6yr old son to snorkel. This was a great alternative. The information says that you get granola bars but we did not get any. They used the granola bars to feed the fish which was cool but then we were hungry. Also, the only shade provided was by small flimsy umbrellas instead of an EZ-UP or something that we could actually sit under so that was frustrating since it was SUPER hot! Lastly, the staff was super friendly but we almost missed the meet up because we had a hard time finding their 1 staff member. Overall: Great beaches and friendly staff, just a few disappointments.
This was exactly what we needed! First, our guide was so amazing. He was so kind and friendly and really made our trip so much better. On top of that both places we went were filled with friendly fish who almost schooled with you as you swam around!
Great tour. We saw so many fish and our guide provided everything. We took a van ride to Santa Maria beach and we swam with our guide and saw so much. He set up umbrellas for us and had waters and snacks. All snorkeling equipment was provided. We were a small group and we decided to stay at Santa Maria Beach. Highlight of our cruise.
Our guide took us to the most amazing spots. The best part of our trip even though the water was cold. Pictures posted on facebook.
Overall a good trip. Our tour guide was awesome. it was only my friend and I and it didnt last that long.
This was fantastic and our guides were awesome! We loved this! Highly recommended!
Our tour guide Maury was excellent. We saw the bays that we were going to go snorkeling in, but due to heavy waves and current caused by a hurricane 1200 kms away, we could not swim in those areas. Maury was very flexible and gave us a few options including a full refund. We decided to have him give us a tour of San Lucas and swim and snorkel at a smaller bay. We had a great time and the main reason was how knowledgeable Maury is about the whole area as well as the culture. We highly recommend this tour and please ask for Maury. You will not regret it.
The time we went, we did not see a lot a fish snorkeling, but the guys tried very hard to make it fun and enjoyable. I was under the impression that we would go by boat between the two areas and we did not. We went by car. It was nice to be picked up at our hotel.
The two guides were extremely helpful and very competent. Unfortunately the strong winds, surf and jelly fish put a damper on the entire journey. However, before we had to get out of the water we were surrounded by beautiful and colorful fish.
