Ready to get up close and personal with one of Mexico’s most popular sports? It’s going to get exciting!
Our unique Mexico City tour (say that ten times fast!) starts at a typical Mexican pub called a cantina. Here, you’ll enjoy a couple drinks (at your own expense) and get to know the rest of the travelers on your tour. Most importantly, though, your local Urban Adventures guide will give you a briefing of what’s in store for the rest of the evening, including the basic rules of the eccentric lucha libre.
As we drink, you’ll learn about the story of tequila and mezcal, and your guide will get you up to date on Mexico’s world famous party culture, from mariachis and jarochos to banda music.
To keep the excitement of the night going, we’ll head to another cantina by the Mexican musician’s square of Garibaldi, where we will experience Mexican Mariachi music and many other Mexican music bands. We’ll enjoy the atmosphere of the square for about an hour before heading out to the arena to support the best “Luchadores” of the country.
Lucha libre (aka Mexican wrestling), is the second-most watched sport in Mexico, and hands down one of the most exciting things you can do while visiting Mexico City. For a truly local experience, we’ll hop on the subway to the Arena Mexico to catch the fight. We’ll get you good seats in the arena so you can truly live the experience and see the best matches of the night.
Immerse yourself in the crazy, exciting, energetic atmosphere of the arena and really get into it - scream and whistle whatever you want, while you experience unique and dramatic lucha libre moves like La Quebradora, El Martineta, La Segadora, and many others. You’ll watch some of the best wrestlers in the country in an experience that will leave you awestruck for the two hours you spend at the lucha libre.
At the end of this unreal experience, you will have time to buy some souvenirs, like the mask of the best wrestler you saw in the show, so you can take some fun photos with your masks on.
After all the dancing, singing, drinking, and cheering, we’ll be ready to go back to where it all began, our meeting point, where your guide will offer suggestions for where to continue the party. If you prefer to hit the hay, you can take a cab back to your hotel with the help of your local tour guide.

Cesar was a great host. He was very knowledgeable about Lucha Libre and I was extremely impressed with the performances of these masked athletes. After that we learned about Mezcal and Tequila, and danced with a beautiful and charismatic mariachi singer (her "ay yi yi" catchphrase was well-delivered). The cantina afterwards had great food.
This is a blast! Milton was an excellent tour guide and got everyone into the fun. I would do this tour again when I visit CDMX again!
Best tour I took while there. Loads of fun. It did not feel like a tour. Our guide Katie was fantastic and helpful! Viva Lucha Libre!
This definitely was the best tour I took in México. The tour guide was great, explaining everything we saw and experienced. The lucha libre was awesome, the part I had less expectations and it was a great experience, I had a really fun time. The visit to Plaza Garibaldi was great, even though I think we got short in time or I'd had like to spend more time strolling in the Plaza after dinner. I recommend this tour.
MUST DO! You need to schedule this tour, our guide Pilar was really nice and the group was in the mood for having a great time! I did it as a solo traveler, and it's perfect since you get to meet a lot of people and Pilar is great with the ice-breaking dynamics. We were a group of 8 approx, and we all got to meet each other, and have nice talks! The places chosen for this tour are worth it, and I can ensure you will have one of your greatest nights at México.
This was a great way to experience night life in Mexico City! Our plane was late so we were late in trying to meet up with the group, but our guide Milton was very helpful and accommodating. The earthquake happened during this time as well, so everyone was scrambling to get things back on track. Everything was well organized and very professional.
This tour is a definite MUST and our tour guide Rodrigo was amazing! You get to see an inside on Mexico City night life, learn some brief history of tequila, mariachi, the luchador culture, and the Zocalo district. It was a great way to meet people and even with much drinking, it was very organized. Rodrigo made sure the party was brought out of everyone. Definitely our best night there!
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and I loved the variety of experiences the tour offered.
Rodrigo was an excellent host! The lucha libre was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico City... and can't forget about the Tequila Museum.
Great guide. Fun night from Tequilla Museum to Lucha Libre. Well done.
What can I say? This tour was AWESOME! The guide was great and of positive energy. I cannot emphasize how much you must take this, I went on a daughter mother trip, and I am 28 years old and my mom in her late 50's and let me tell you... we both enjoyed this just as much! If you want a good safe fun night, try this out!!!!
Super fun tour! Cesar was a great host all night, and your seats for the Lucha Libre match were great! As someone visiting Mexico City alone, this was an excellent way to experience some nightlife safely with other people. Even made some friends to spend the rest of the weekend with!
Yes, yes, yes a million times yesssss! BOOK THIS EXPERIENCE! As a solo traveler I wanted to experience the nightlife, but was afraid to do it alone. My group consisted of 10 ppl and we all quickly became close thanks to our guide, Carlos, that broke the ice. I felt safe and had an amazing night!
Our Guide Leon did a great job, We had a great time in Garibaldi Square, the matches at the Lucha Libre where great and the ride on the subway was a real experience. The meeting point was easy to find
This was one of the best things I've ever done with my study abroad students! Our guide Leon was awesome!! He was very entertaining, and very hospitable--made sure everyone had a great time! Even the one person in our group who doesn't drink had a great time.
Leon took us to an upscale bar in the Torre Latinoamericana where we met the other members of our group--a couple from New Zealand and three folks from Kansas. We hit it off immediately with them and had the time of our lives.
Leon then took us to the Cantina Tenampa, where we took tequila shots and sang and danced with the locals and the mariachi and jarocho bands. What a blast!!
We ended up at a Lucha Libre competition which we enjoyed much more than we thought--mostly because Leon had prepared us well.
Much love to Leon, and we hope to see you next year!
This tour is a MUST! Our tour guide Leon showed us a Mexico City we could have never seen solo. His outgoing personality made everyone feel like best friends by the end of the evening. Truly an evening we’ll never forget!
This evening tour was so much fun! Leon was incredibly charming and made sure we all had a good time. I wish the night could've gone on and on! An experience not to be missed!
