After you book this tour, please send us an email with the name of your hotel so that we can inform you exact pick up time.
I also recommend you to book this tour at the begging of your vacation, because sometimes the turtles hatch one day later, so if you book this tour at the end you might not have another day.
So for example if you book for a Monday and the Baby Turtles don’t hatch, they will do that on Tuesday and we will inform you about in the morning of Monday.
Times are subject to change due to local traffic conditions.
At the end of the tour we will take you back to the lobby of your hotel.
On this 3 hours experience, you will be driven north west of Zihuatanejo, the drive will take about 40 minutes to get to the turtle Farm, in the farm we will select the nest that is hatching and you will have the chance to dig a few baby turtles out of the nest, you will be provide with one globe per person to dig the turtles out, you then will have to put each one of the turtles in a small plastic container that we will be giving you in which the just born sea turtles will remain for about 40 minutes until they wake up.
The turtles will remain for about 40 minutes in the container, during this time we will provide you with a cold drink (beer or bottle of water or soda or a margarita). After 40 minutes the sea turtles will be more active and ready to run, so you will take them to the wet sand about 20 feet away from the ocean and as soon as they are put in the wet sand they will run to the ocean. We will wait until they all run to the ocean, during the whole process you can take pictures but remember not to use flash because the baby turtles get disoriented and will not know which way to run.
The turtles will be release around sunset time so that the birds which are one of the main predators are not there to eat them.
After all the turtles have made it to the ocean you will be taken back to your hotel.

Releasing sea turtles was a bucket-list item for my daughter and me so having the opportunity to participate in a release in Ixtapa was awesome. Luis, our guide, is a great ambassador for his country, making us all feel welcome and right at home. The turtle release site itself was wonderfully unpretentious and staffed by a knowledgable young man clearly invested in saving baby sea turtles. Would highly recommend!!
