This tour starts off by picking you up from either your Mazatlan hotel or cruise ship terminal. Your guide will proceed by showing you the most interesting and important highlights in Old Mazatlan, giving you time at each area to get out and enjoy the environment and history. For example, you can admire some of the most beautiful views of the city where the Old Spanish Fort was located and where the original cannon is still placed.
You also won't want to miss the cliff diving show, where a brave diver plunges into a mere 8 feet of water from 45 feet high! Learn what makes the Historical Center unique and take some time to wander the downtown area where the Cathedral, main plaza and central market are located. After exploring the main highlights in Old Mazatlan, you will head to the docks where the boat awaits, to cross us over to the Stone Island and enjoy some of the most amazing beaches.
This is where you will have lunch and enjoy an open bar. If you're up to it there will be a variety of beach activities included for you to enjoy, such as horse back riding, boogie boards, kayaking, banana boat, or a horse cart tour. We were fortunate to have just ourselves with our english speaking guide on this tour which took us initially thru Historico Mazatlan then onto a catamaran to Stone Island to bask on the beach and enjoy several activities while there, including a delicious lunch of chicken/beans/rice and beverages. We chose just the donkey and cart ride thru town and our escort happened to have lived in my hometown in Arizona so it was an extra special conversation. As we were the only english speaking visitors the captain made of point of addressing us as Arizona which helped me que into his tour information. Once returned to the dock, we continued our tour back thru Mazatlan and received detailed information to our questions about the sites. Our guide stayed with us the entire time rather than dropping us off so we always had a resource close by. We saw people enjoying the banana boats, the quads, the horseback riding and swimming while we kicked back and soaked up the sun with an abundance of liquid refreshments. A thoroughly enjoyable day! Thank you Enrique.
The guides were all very nice and extremely accommodating. Enjoyed the day, just wish the sightseeing tour portion was longer. In my opinion, we spent too much time at shops on the side of the road rather than seeing more 'sights'.
Was not really what we expected. City tour short. 15 minutes allowed to tour a church and open market. Cliff divers were sketchy and we didn't feel safe. Stone island was jam packed with people. So so food. Weak drinks. The only beach activity appeared to be a banana boat which we couldn't find the guy to help us ride it. One of us rode the horses and she was back in 10 minutes. Too many hawkers allowed to pester you while you ate. I was not thrilled with Mazatlan. Wouldn't visit this city again.
This was a very commercialized tour. We stopped in town but only had 30 minutes to walk around and shop in the market. Not enough time. All the other stops were nice but geared to the locals selling their wares at every stop. The cliff divers were very aggressive towards the visitors and we felt very uncomfortable there. Stone Island was very busy and we were rushed in and directed to a table and immediately had to order our lunch. There were no chaise loungers on the beach so we sat in plastic chairs all day. The free drinks were horrible and the beer was very watered down. The lunch was good. We did not see any snorkeling. There was horses, ATV's and the banana boat riders. Some of the locals were allowed to come into the area selling their wares. Very irritating to be bothered over and over again. Would I do this again.....nope! Definitely not worth the price we paid.
Had a great tour worth the money had lots of fun all the sightseeing of the city and fun at Stone island lunch drinks and horseback riding.
Our Guide George was very good and was knowledgeable about Mazatlan. The downtown stop at the church and the market gave us time to experience those two cultural attractions as well as the panoramic view of the city from the hill top and George did not push us from a time perspective. We were disappointed in a few things. First the cliff jumpers were only operating on an additional gratuity of 25.00. Secondly, the horse back ride was a 3 block circle which I would have enjoyed going further for a longer time even if it was a separate charge. The carriage ride around the village was good allowing us to view the general culture and was 15-20 min long. The food was good and our guide's service to us was excellent.
Both the tour guides from the van and the island were excellent. The lunch hit the spot. My only complaint is that the activities on the island were quite short.
We had been there before. The best part of the trip is that the waters are more calm and accessible on this island. So this is a good place to be able to actually get in the ocean water and have that experience. Most of the other Mazatlan beaches have waves that are just too daunting and not safe. The lunch is very good and authentic. Our driver, Jean Carlos, was wonderful. Very professional, kind, well informed and just an all round great guide for the day. WE greatly enjoyed our time with him.
This was a disappointing tour. Our guide was not informative about Mazatlan and not interactive. He also didn't speak very good English, which I expect on a tour like this. We had a long wait for our boat to Stone Island. It seemed unorganized. The access to Stone Island was the only good part of the tour. It was well-managed on the island. The Old Town Sightseeing portion of the tour is a joke. The guide dropped us off at the cathedral and market, but didn't come with us to provide information. I went back to Old Town on my own and learned much more from free walking tour websites.
I don't know if the tour was worth doing or not do to the fact that when our party of 10 arrived at the designated time we were told we were an hour late and the tour had already left. Being that we had already paid for the tour we were given a private tour guide, Carlos, who was very knowledgeable.
We had so much fun. Our guide was very accommodating and drove very well and was able to answer all our query's,
I opted to go out on the banana boat which was wonderful. I am 71 yrs. young and had no difficulty doing this
Lunch was good and so were the drinks. Nice staff at restaurant and the beach. LOVE IT!!!
The tour of Old Town was made extremely interesting by our guide Jose. He was knowledgeable and very patient and accommodating with our desire to stop and get pictures. If we could do it again I would have done it our first day there instead of the last since it covered much more of Old Mazatlán. We would have been able to enjoy more of the area during our vacation. The boat tour and afternoon at Stone Island was very relaxing and the lunch that was provided was delicious.
The tour of the city with Eduardo was great....he loves Mazatlán and knows so much about it since he was born and raised there. Both my sister in Law and I enjoyed that the most.....the boat trip to Stone Island was OK, my sister in law fell, didn't see the step and that shook her up awhile since she just turned 70 years of age....we didn't do any of the shore excursions because she was shakey but I brought the playing cards so we played cards and enjoyed the lunch.....I also enjoyed a couple Modelos great that they were included....it was a beautiful day in the sun and nice location right on the beach......just watch your steps.....
We had a wonderful time. Jeancarlo is an excellent tour guide. We were the only couple on the tour so he was our personal guide for the day. Great information during the sightseeing portion. We also enjoyed Stone Island, it was a secluded area. Wonderful day! Thank you Jeancarlo!!!
Jeancarlo Jimenez Zamora, our tour guide is knowledgeable, delightful, professional, and totally service oriented. We had him as our private tour guide for about 6 hours. Very gracious!! The tour included observing the cliff divers, tour of the cathedral and market place downtown, a ferry to stone island along with two activities ie. horseback riding and banana boat ride. We really got our money's worth and a wonderfully compatible tour guide in Jeancarlo. This tour is a must!!
We really enjoyed our sightseeing tour. Our tour guide, JC, was very knowledgeable and so kind. He did everything he could to make our day fun, safe and enjoyable. We really liked the horseback riding and kayaking on the island. Everyone was so kind.
Tour was wonderful. Our tour guide jeancarlo Jimenez was fantastic. Highly recommend.
The tour was just okay. We got to see downtown, market area and the historical parts of the city.
The Stone Island beach part of the tour was disappointing not much to see just another beach. They give us lunch and was very limited on your choices. We chose to do the Horse Ride on the beach and that took about 10 minutes in all. Felt sorry for the horses they look so tired and burn out not worth it.
Our tour guide, Jeancarlo, was kind, personable and knowledgeable. The tour was interesting and fun, from the boat to Stone Island to the city portion of the tour, we found it interesting and fun. We started with a boat excursion to see some of the rock formations and caves in the ocean, and were treated to a dolphin escort for part of it. Then we cruised over to Stone Island, where we took a tractor-drawn trailer ride to our restaurant. There we were given the opportunity to participate in 2 activities of our choosing. We chose to tour Stone Island on a horse-drawn trailer, and our driver sang to us beautifully the entire way. It was great fun and culturally interesting. Then back to the restaurant for a delicious lunch. We had the option to do another activity, but we chose to sit it out there was a marriage proposal involved : When this portion of the tour was done, we went back to the mainland where Jeancarlo took us for a tour of downtown. He had a lot of information regarding the history of Mazatlán, and how in recent years the economy has suffered. The people here are working so hard to recover, and in my humble opinion they are doing a beautiful job of it. Hats off to the wonderful people here! This tour was well worth doing, and we would do it again.
