Let me start off by saying that the Snorkeling itself was only part of the issue. The Tour Clearly states that it goes to 2 spots for 40 minutes each. Unfortunately, we only went to one spot for about 55 minutes. While it was longer than 40 minutes it certainly wasnt 80 minutes. Another person on the tour get very upset and eventually they gave in for him for a very short other site literally 10 minutes.
The big problem was with the transportation provided. On the way from our resort, we had to stop at another resort and pick up another group of people for another tour. The Resort was about 15 minutes out of the way. It also took like 10 more minutes for the people to be found and get on the van. After picking them up we had to go to a Seven Eleven Store and wait until someone else came to pick them up. We waited over 30 minutes then finally went to Puerto Morelos. It literally took over an additional hour to get to the tour.
The drive back was far worse. We waited 40 minutes for the driver after the tour and lunch ended. When he got there we went to the same Seven Eleven Store. We waited 20 minutes at the Seven Eleven and then were told to go into a different Van. We then waited 40 more minutes for the same people that we had picked up earlier. By the time they got there and we finally dropped them off, our ride back to Puerto Aventuras took a total of 2 hours and 45 minutes to get to a place 45 minutes away.
This was an awful experience and ruined our day. We were picked up at 11:30am and arrived back at our Resort at 6:40pm. We Snorkeled for 55 Minutes, had a 30 minute lunch and the travel took basically 5.5 Hours for what should have been 1.5 hours.
This review isn't exaggerated or biased, completely truthful and horrid experience!
We were very disappointed with our snorkeling trip. Our guide didn't know anything about the fish and corals we were taken out to see and the equipment we were given to use did not all fit properly and made the time in the water quite uncomfortable. After we got back from the water, we had a lunch and a brief walk around the town. After that, we waited 1-1/2 hours for the van to come pick up us, getting us back to our hotel very late. All in all, we were displeased with the tour and would not recommend it to anyone.
Wonderful tour. Our guides Oscar and Eddy were very knowledgeable and attentive. They showed us excellent places on the reef in Puerto Morelos. Will recommend this tour many times!.
Great experience. Snorkeling was awesome and I learned a lot about Mexico. Great guide.
Prepared to accommodate snorkelers of all levels, this team made the experience as enjoyable and safe as possible for our ability. The tour afterward and the lunch were satisfying as well. English was on point.
Hubby and I had a great time snorkeling at Puerto Morelos. We specifically wanted to snorkel at this reef because we read that it was the 2nd largest reef in the world. There was a lot to see at this reef - we saw plenty of fish, HUGE corals, anemones, lobsters, stingrays, etc.
We were picked up promptly from our hotel in the Cancun hotel zone and were driven to Puerto Morelos 30 min South where we met our guide, Eduardo. We were given equipment goggles, fins and brand new snorkel as well as towels. We were the only 2 people that doing the snorkel tour that day which was nice. We went out on a small boat and drove to 2 reefs. We snorkeled for about 45 minutes at each reef site, following the captain who pointed out various things to see. Afterwards, we had time to change and had lunch at a beach-front restaurant right next door where the food was decent. We then walked around the small town of Puerto Morelos with our guide until our ride came.
I booked this trip via Viator not knowing which tour company it would be until I paid. There were only two reviews of the tour but I am glad I took the risk as it ended up being an excellent tour ! Our tour guide was Eddie and he is very friendly ! The driver arrived at our hotel dreams riviera punctually and the van was comfortable.
When we got to puerto Morelos, we met the captain a friendly guy as well! and he suited us up right away and we got on the boat. When we got in the water, both the captain and Eddie were in the water with us to make sure everything goes well. We followed the captain's lead and he pointed at interesting fishes to us whenever he sees it - barracuda , sting ray, lion fish...etc the water was very clear and the waves were calm.
I don't know how long we spent in the water but it was long enough that I felt very tired after !
After the snorkelling, we stopped for lunch at a local restuarant and the food was delicious and the place was clean.
Eddie also did a short walk with us and showed us around Puerto Morelos.
Overall, Puerto Morelos is an excellent place to snorkel and extreme adventure offered great staffs that enhanced the experience ! Thank you!
My husband and I had a great time! The staff was friendly and our hotel pick up was only a few minutes late. We swam in two different locations of the reef and saw several Barracuda, colorful fish, beautiful coral and a giant spider lobster!
Lunch was very good! I would have like to have gone back earlier as being haggled by the shop owners is exhausting.
Sitting on a beach in paradise while waiting for a ride back isn't bad though.
The driver was great, but the van was not. One of our seats was broken and very uncomfortable. The van had definitley seen better days. The snorkeling was nice, but the snorkel guide and boat captains english were quite limited. It would have been nice to have a guide who could explain a few things when leading out in the water. That being said, we saw a wide variety of fish, a lobster, barracuda... it was like swimming in an aquarium! The food was excellent after the snorkeling, but the service was very slow, and our pick-up/return trip seemed disorganized. We waited around for an additional 90 minutes after the stated return time.
