Tourism Office in downtown Puebla
Puebla main plaza or Zocalo.
You start the tour from Puebla City main plaza or “Zocalo” boarding a traditional double-decker tram. Five miles to the west of the city is the “double” town of Cholula, which brings together San Pedro and San Andres. Each of these towns has its own main square and church, but they are so close to each other that the border has been lost and they are both thought of as the same town. Your panoramic tour starts in San Pedro Cholula at the Plaza de la Concordia, which is flanked by the Convento de San Gabriel built by Franciscans in 1549 on the site of the ruins of a temple dedicated to Quetzalcóat.
You continue towards the Great Pyramid of Cholula, the largest in the world if we consider the basement. On the top, you will admire the Nuestra Señora de los Remedios Temple, built by the Spaniards in 1549. You continue to San Andrés Cholula, where you will stop for a moment so you can visit the beautiful parish.
You'll board again the tram and then stop at San Francisco Acatepec and Santa María Tonanzintla temples where you will admire the Mexican baroque style. This last church was completed by the indigenous using the expressive scope of the Baroque style, they managed to capture their own universe in the plaster: dark-skinned angels, children with feathered headdress, fruit and ears of corn. There is no corner that hasn't been decorated, leaving no gaps and demonstrating a lot of love and care.
You continue the tour passing by the wizards house, and Copa de Oro cider factory, to finally stop San Pedro Cholula zocalo to visit the local market, the Royal Chapel, San Gabriel Convent and Concordia Plaza. You have time on your own to have lunch (not included).
You'll return to Puebla at approximately 4:30pm.

Cholula is a lovely town and highly recommend it to anyone that likes history, site seeing, and is interested in architecture. Our guide was very knowledgeable and explained things great. The tour bus was great as well it was in good condition and the route was pleasant (I recommend you sit on top if you like to take pictures). Also wear good walking shoes so you can be comfortable there is a lot of walking and also take some snacks. Over all this was a great tour and would definitely do it again.
Another excellent tour. For the Cholula day trip, Karla ensured that I had special attention as the only English-speaking person on the bus. When we were at the attractions, she made sure I had all the information to make the visit complete. The churches we visited were so beautiful.
For the pyramid tour, I had Karla as my guide again. She offered the optional film Cholula - La Ciudad Sagrada as part of the tour, which I highly recommend as well.
My only issue with the day was that I sat in the upper deck of the tour bus and ended up getting sunburned on my arms. As always, be prepared with sunscreen as the sun is very hot!
Thanks, Karla and Team for a great day!
Awesome tour to see incredible cathedrals, walk through the pyramid, and see the awesome city center in Cholula.
Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and personable as well :
I booked this tour online from TripAdvisor/Viator just a day before arriving in Puebla, Mexico. I got an email telling me where to meet the tour and everything worked out nicely. My husband and I had an English-speaking tour guide, Carla, who was wonderful. We traveled on a double-decker bus to Cholula with other passengers but our guide was just for us and she gave us a much more personalized experience of the pyramid grounds and the churches.
This was a fascinating tour, and we had our own personal tour guide, as they don't get a lot of English speakers. Our tour guide as extremely knowledgeable, and passionate about his subject matter, explaining the history, culture, art, even the theology of the various cathedrals, and the relationship to the indigenous religion. The pyramid itself is astounding in size and scope. The decorative arts in each of the cathedrals we saw are incredibly detailed and beautiful.
