The tour was amazing. I rated this place a 4 star, because their directions are completely messed up.. When I put the directions on google maps for navigation it sends me to another Marina tour place that does the same activity. When I arrived there, the tour guy told me I was in the wrong place and I needed to walk 15 minutes to get to the correct marina.. This place is actually located in the same place at some type of restaurant. They should charge their address to match the resturaunts address.
Our guide was very helpful and informative. The water was beautiful and snorkeling was fun!
Our tour ended up being a private tour since we were the only ones who signed up for the 9 am. The boat was easy to control and a lot of fun to drive to the snorkeling area. Spent about an hour or so in the water checking out the reef and the underwater statues and then headed back. Took just under 3 hours for the whole trip. Highly recommended.
The tour was really amazing. Both activities - driving the boat and snorkeling were very exciting. The only one negative experience was an open requirement for the tips and guide response to the tips he got. I understand that it is acceptable in Cancun that everywhere you must give lots of tips for everybody, but in my personal opinion the person should be worthy of them.
I gave this tour as a wedding gift to friends and they LOVED IT! They only said good things about the staff and the experience, they even sent me a video made during the tour and I was amazed, it looked more than expected and would definitely recommend buying this.
I saw this tour when I was browsing Viator. This is the cheapest of all jungle tour. My husband and I have lower expectations before doing this. We chose a 12 pm tour. We just landed in Cancun around 9:20 am and drop our luggage to our hotel and took a cab to get there. The taxi driver speak little english, fortunately, my husband know a little bit of spanish. He doesn't know where to find Marina Barracuda. The taxi cab costs 14 already because it's located in hotel zone. There's a restaurant in front and the tour area is at the back. When were there there's no other travelers. I guess it's low season. We were greeted warmly by Jorge. He said we'll wait for two more people and we're good to go. The other two person didn't come so we get to have the tour guide with us. The drive is almost 30 minutes one way. You drive on your own and it's easy. We drove into the mangroves, crashed slightly on it. Then you will have 1 hour to snorkel in Punta Nizuc reef. They will provide your disposable snorkeling equipment like the mask and tube. The water is beautiful! Clear and turquiose. The coral reefs and fishes are average. We've snorkel in Asia and there's more to see there. On the way back, I drove the speedboat. The water were rough so be careful. Overall, It's a great way to spend an extra 3 hours on your trip. This is our first day and we have lined up other excursions. It's worth the money.
We had so much fun. Our tour guides Jose and his son Marcelo were very nice and helpful. We will go back for sure.
We had a fun time, with just a couple of minor issues. Booking online saves you a ton of money. The prices posted at checkin were double what we paid. Also, be aware of the park tax of 10 per person. We called ahead of time because we had 2 adults and 3 children on the tour. Wanted to make sure we would all fit in one boat. They said yes, but when we got there they said only 4 per boat. They agreed to let one of the kids ride with the tour guide. After leaving the dock, everyone drives their own speedboat single file by an adjacent dock where an employee takes your picture for possible purchase on your return.
Everyone then drives single file through the lagoon into the jungle, which is a narrow wooded channel that leads out to sea. The ride out to the reef is a blast, because of the speed, sun, and spray. The jungle is only about 5-10 minutes of the ride. The ocean is usually pretty rough for these small boats, but it's very safe. The reef snorkeling was only fair. The ocean is rough, so I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. I'm 60 and not in good shape, but I am a very strong swimmer from high school and college teams. I found the ocean challenging, and my partner and her kids stayed in the boat. Not much in the way of variety as far as the fish we saw. The return trip was fun as well, cruising the water rapidly, bouncing around and getting soaked. I recommend the tour for the boat ride alone, but the snorkeling not so much.
When we docked, we saw our photos. We bought the one with 4 of us, but they wanted full price 10 for the second one of our child riding with the guide. It would have been nice if they threw that one in for free, or at least discounted it, but no such luck.
So my overall rating would have been 4 stars, except for the minor issues we had. We still had a really good time!
Our tour guide Jose was awesome! He told us how to driver the boats and was always aware of who was falling behind in line speed wise. Driving the speedboat was so much fun and snorkeling is an added bonus! The rice is unbeatable and we had fun for 2 hours. In the ocean he showed us a barracuda and grabbed a sting ray for us to see. Its was amazing! He was great :
