The Living Maya Experience offers visitors hugely enjoyable, learning visits to a Mayan home in Big Falls village. This tour  is culturally significant attractions in the area, this interactive experience gets guests involved every step of the way.

Guests are invited into the homes of local Kek'chi Maya families to help with their every day tasks as they live and work off the land. You'll first meet the families and tour the homes, taking note that everything is hand made and even the youngest of children help complete the days activities. The Cals' present a traditional Mayan home, furnished with all natural materials; from balsa wood benches to beds of tree bark

Then jump right in and help with things like grinding soaked corn and work in the garden. Food is cooked and stored in the traditional way.  You are rewarded not only with a profound appreciation for the lives they lead, but a delicious traditional lunch as well.

You spend time in a Mayan home that offers a very cool look back into a culture that is quickly disappearing…a time when the Kek’chi Maya depended on the land for everything from food to furniture to medicine.
