Your day trip to the laid-back, family-oriented beach retreat in the Rosario Islands offers the Caribbean ideal of platinum sands and crystalline waters. After pickup in Cartagena, take a shared speedboat to Isla Grande, the largest of the islands that form Rosario Islands National Park.
The trip includes a welcome drink and a traditional buffet lunch of fresh fish, coconut rice, fried plantains, and a soft drink. You may also use the beach resort's facilities, kayaks, and other non-motorized water toys, as well as towels and access to the hotel's bathrooms and shower facilities. Snorkeling is also available (rental equipment at your own expense, or bring your own).
Soak up some sunshine and swim in the tranquil waters until it's time to head back to Cartagena. The water can be pretty choppy on the way back to the mainland, so bring a plastic bag to keep your belongings dry.

- Guests outside 3 miles of the city center hotel pickup radius will be required to meet at designated meeting point

Beautiful beach, relaxing time, good food. The speed boat ride can be a little rough but I think that depends on the time of year you go, we were there in March which is their dry but windy season ( not crazy windy but the wind can get up to 20 MPH)
Rosiario Island is a gloriously easygoing resort. For a day trip or more, only a short boat ride from the mainland, the clear warm waters will wash away your tensions and cares and your aches and pains under azure skys and dreamlike vistas. Take a nice long novel, find a comrotable lounge chair and turn off your cell phone!
Island was beautiful. Food was quite good but be sure to get in line first as seating became unavailable and they were slow to clear tables for the last 20 guests.they wont take cash for drinks at the beach bar so you have to settle up afterwards and there were lines and delays at the cashier. The boat taking us over was new very comfortable and we really enjoyed it. Weather in January was perfect 85 and water was nice. Wear water shoes as rough on the feet in the water.they have some vendors with quality necklaces and earrings so bring extra cash
After NOT been picked up at my hotel had to take a taxi to reach boat departure on time! we went to the Rosario islands with fast speed boat. Nice time on a beautiful beach. Lunch OK! Time to relax. But wherever you go: always Colombian people in your neighboorhood for selling their stuff, even on a island...
This day trip was awesome. We had a good boat trip over and the beaches were beautiful! Lunch was amazing. Plenty of lounge chairs to relax and very nice staff. The facilities are very well maintained. One thing to note, once you get off the boat on the way home, you are on your own. There is no ride back to your hotel.
We had an OK time... First it was confusing if they would or would not pick us up at the hotel As it took several days to hear, yes we were confirmed, then we could not reconfirm as stated on the voucher that we needed to do-we got the confirmation the day before the trip Even our hotel tried to call them--no answer. We were getting ready to get a taxi when they did show up to pick us up! Our driver was extremely nice.
Check in at pier went very well, as did the ride out to the Island.
The island is small with really only one very small beach and the water is very shallow and rocky. Lots of people on the beach--more than our one boat, not sure where they came from? Another tour? Plus there is smoking allowed which because the chairs are so close together, I had to get up and move away to avoid second hand smoke. We did the snorkling which was fun--yes coral is dying, between pollution and climate change and most likely too many people touching it. But it was fun. Lunch was good, no fruit, but fish was very fresh and they did do a fillet for my daughter who will not eat a fish if there are bones or eyes The fruit drink had no taste and I would have done without it. Trip Advisor said included were the non motorized things such as paddle boats and kayaks, but we had to pay for the paddleboat there were no kayaks that I saw!
There are only 6 hammocks and people claimed them very fast! There are so many trees around it would be very easy to add hammocks all over the island.
Afterwards I wanted to rinse off the salt water before the boat ride back. The outside showers were not working and for the women there was only one shower!
I am glad I went because otherwise I would have wondered what I missed, but now that I went I have no desire to return. Maybe the other tour operators are better, I don't have a comparison, but I wouldn't spend money to do this again!
I do recommend this trip because of the friendly service, fun stops, great lunch, and the importance of having a scheduled optoin to the islands, however....the communication process was frustrating for all groups on our tour days were confused addresses and pick ups not validated. Also, during the sales process they were trying to get you to go on a different day and wouldn't guarentee that your trip would actually happen in the case they didn't have enough people.
I wrote a lengthy review in response to an email from Viator, but to summarize, this tour is not worth the cost.
Beautiful time on the island. It was really relaxing to take a day away from the city. They have everything you could possibly need on the island.
We decided not to take this trip as we heard bad reviews of Rosario islands . We decided to spend more time in beautiful Cartagena instead. We lost the money on this trip.
First of all, Viator confirmed the trip with me, but the tour company contacted me and said they did not have availability for the day I wanted to go and booked me for the next day. It would have been nice to have more information as to what island was going to be visited. The check in process at the dock was chaotic and they never gave me the proper change for the taxes charged. Once on the island it was relaxing and the lunch was decent.
great day trip to a nice, basic island resort with a lovely beach the lunch provided was delicious!
The island was pretty but no snorkeling was offered. The excuse was that the sea was rough. We were there to snorkel and we were very disappointed. We ended up hiring a guy with a boat and we paid him 50 US to take us to four different snorkeling sites. If we had not done that the trip would have been disappointing. If you just want to lie on the beach and swim, then this trip would be fine.
What a lovely day! Wonderful boat ride, fantastic ideal beach, kind staff and delicious lunch. A great get away from Cartegna for the day - the beaches in Cartegna do not begin to compare to the clear water paradise. Highly recommend! Well priced, a great value and a lot of fun!
