This was a very interesting trip. Good thing is that your fee also support local communities (the extra services that cost 5000 COP each such as mud massage, helping you get the mud off you in the lagoon). If you understand this is a basic, no-frills place, you will have a great time!

Elizabeth, was courteous and sweet she made us feel at ease before we got into the mud. She took the time to explain all the rules and regulations before we arrived. The mud is a must the buoyancy is unexpected and the feeling is indescribable overall the experience is a must. I also took the morning that include lunch at Restaurant Donna if you are not eating that fish on the beach you are not living. Go get rejuvenated in that mud best 35 I ever spent.

It is a great price for hotel pick up, transportation, lunch and mud bath. If you are in Cartagena for a few days I would take a half day trip to Totumo. It's more like a mound. You can get a massage for like 2! You also can have the local women bathe you. I just had my husband clean me off ha ha! I do think there was too much down time. They could of easily cut a hour, if not two hours off the tour. I suggest you do the morning session instead of the afternoon.

The volcano was good. The bus was small and crowded. The restaurant had a lot of stray dogs and cats wandering near our feet.

I lucked into finding this trip in my first night in Colombia! The volcano is so cool and you can not kip the message 5000 pesos. It happens inside the volcano and the mud feels so good and restorative. When I was there a woman who had made multiple trips recommended putting it in your hair but stressed about not dunking your head! You will never be able to get the mud off your face until you are in the lake. The only downside is the line to get it. Its takes a while and there is no escape from the sun. Get a beer or water and take it with you!

I had a good time, going into the mud was a cool experience. Keep in mind the drive to/from the volcano is lengthy. I’ve rated a 4 as the people at the volcano can be pushy if you don’t purchase the massage or washing, also the photographer you also have to pay and they damaged one person’s phone.

The trip was great. I found out that I could not swim in water or mud. I only gave it four stars becasue I was upset with the fact we had to pay someone to take pictures with our own cell phones. If I was paying for a serice it would have been better to have had professional pictures taken, which I probably would have paid for. Additionally, the locals were too overbearing with their quest to make money. I had the intentions of giving away money to help with the poverty situation, however, when I am pressured, it makes it less likely that I will give anything. To top it off, even the children have learned how to hustle. I understand because of the economic situation, desperate times create desperate situations. However, I was still saddened by it. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the mud volcano tour very much.

The tour was fun and relaxing. The mud is something you have to experience for yourself to know how it feels. The only downside is that you're forced to get a massage and to be helped getting cleaned off in the riverwhich you pay for both

Pros:
1. The mud volcano is quite an experience - very unique and the feeling of floating is odd, but cool
2. Lockers are provided on site to lock up your stuff while you go into the volcano
3. For 4,000 COP, you can give a guy your phone / camera to take pictures of you in the volcano
Cons:
1. It was a little awkward walking around in the town, with locals staring at you, in your swimsuit
2. Wish there is more time to clean off
3. Lunch is WAY TOO LONG. We arrived at 12:15 pm and couldn't leave until 2:45 pm. Everyone was ready by 1:30 pm some were ready at 1 pm, so we just sat there. Poor use of time.
This excursion was worth it because of the volcano itself. But, if you can find a different tour group to do the same thing more efficiently, then go for it!

Elizabeth was our tour guide and very friendly. We were picked up at 9am in a van from our hotel . It rained pretty heavy when we were at the volcano and people were slipping left and right. Massages were offered as a service inside of the volcano. From there we were taken to Manzanilla to enjoy our lunch of either chicken or fish and then were given time to enjoy the beach where the restaurant in Mazanilla is located. Great experience.

The volcano is amazing! If you are traveling to Cartagena, this is a must! This tour option is perfect! At the volcano you can get a massage, then you get washed up in a nearby river. After the volcano you stop at a beach for a few hours. Here you eat at a restaurant owned by a woman named Donna. Get the fried fish, you won't regret it! This is a family establishment and everyone there is very nice. There are a few locals on the beach that you can buy treats from as well. The restaurant is about 1/2 away from the volcano. My only issue with this tur is that it is more of a full day trip since the rides from the beach don't depart until 3. I reserved another tour after the volcano assuming the morning tour ended at 12 so I had to pay for a cab back to the hotel.

Such a great and unique experience! We were promptly picked up at our hotel. After we arrived, you climb the volcano and get to hang out in the mud for about 20 minutes. Afterwards, you walk to a small body of water nearby where local women will help wash all the mud away. There will be plenty of people around who will offer to watch your shoes, take your pictures and assist getting all the mud off of you. Don' worry, this is the normal process. Just ensure you tip EVERYONE at the end of your experience. They are expecting it. This experience was so fun and unique and you should definitely add it to your list of To Do's if you are in the area!

The company that operated this excursion was very professional. They contacted me through What's App to confirm my location and the exact time that they would pick you up. They were on time from pick-up, to lunch, to drop off which made it easier to plan other things for the day. By the way, the lunch that they provided was really good and it was authentic Colombian food with choices ranging from fried fish, grilled chicken, vegetarian and fried chicken. Overall I had a good experience with this tour company for this excursion.

Excellent Experience. Tour is reasonable priced for the amount of items provided. You will have to pay additional for the guy that takes pictures for you 4K-5K Colombian Pesos, men have to pay the women that wash you in the pond of water 4K Colombian Pesos. 4K for the massage in the mud bath. The food was good.

The trip and experience was wonderful not to be missed.
What was a problem is that the email sent by Viator told me to check in with the local contact before the trip to the valcano. They gave me a number to call which did not answer. I did not know if I would be picked up or not. Nor could I confirm the time. The company that came by to pick up others at my hotel did accept the voucher. It was very upsetting not knowing if they would or not.
