The peninsula of Barú (sometimes called Isla de Barú), is a coastal area located to the south and 45 minutes by boat from Cartagena de Indias. Famous for its white beaches and turquoise blue water. It is separated from the territory by the Canal del Dique. Until the year 2.014 the only way to cross it was by ferry. It was in that year that the so-called Puente de Barú was inaugurated, through which we can easily visit the area. There you will cross the Canal del Dique, a river made by man to bring water to the city of Cartagena. We will continue the walk and arrive at Playetas, one of the richest places in biodiversity, you will see one of the most important works in the country to preserve marine life. Then we will follow a path for 20 minutes until we reach the town of Barú. When you arrive in Barú you will be greeted at Villa Bonga, one of the town's emblematic houses. There you will receive your bottle of water to start the tour. We will visit several places on foot such as the tourist port, the church, the plaza de la cruz, colonial houses and you will receive a tasting of seafood empanadas, an outstanding product of the baruleros. Later we will go by boat to the beach of the dead, there we will tell you stories of colonial times, you can bathe for 15 to 20 minutes and we will go to the Ciénaga to take an ecotourism walk to the beach of Bobo. At 12:30 they will be picked up to go to Villa Bonga and have a delicious typical dish with fresh fish (options such as chicken, meat, pork or vegetables must be requested beforehand). After resting we will go to the Bonga, under your shadow you will enjoy a sample of the barulera culture with different dances and sounds of our region. You can appreciate artistic works in the Casa de la Cultura, countless paintings and sculptures made by young people. At the end you will know the different crafts and souvenirs made by the population. At 5:00 in the afternoon we will finish the tour and leave Barú to take you to the hotel.
