What to Expect What to Expect

The garden is open from 8:30am to 4pm with tours running constantly until 3:30pm. The tour takes 1.5-hours and is relaxed and easy walking with benches for relaxing. You will start your adventure with expert guides exploring the nature center full of live insects like beetles, tarantulas and praying mantis.

Then you will stroll through 4 enclosed greenhouses where butterflies are flying rain or shine in the butterfly gardens. This makes an excellent option for rainy afternoons in Monteverde. One of the most popular exhibits is the Leaf Cutter Ant Colony where you can see underneath the ground at just what all those ants are up to with the leaf that they carry.

The garden is partnered with the local public library so all proceeds from the gift shop go directly to helping the community. Tours are offered in English and Spanish.
