Meeting outside of El Chiringuito Restaurant at 12:45pm, Tamarindo's Antares Schooner Sailing Ship sets sail from Tamarindo beach Costa Rica, weather permitting. You will be transferred to the boat on a dingy from the restaurant. When boarding the boat you can settle in a comfortable large bean bag chair that aligns with the sides of the boat.
As the boat begins to set sail, you will enjoy 6 gourmet courses prepared fresh from the on board Chef. Open Bar is available throughout the cruise (beer, wine, cocktails). Head for Playa Huevo, and upon arrival, you can go snorkeling, swimming, go to the beach, or just relax on the boat. The food courses are as much organic produce as possible and also add a variety of known as superfoods.
Accommodating vegetarians or people with food intolerences is not a problem and will need to be advised at the time of booking. The Chef typically prepares a tofu salad, veggie ceviche, a salmon plate and a curry soup with veggies, coconut milk, ginger and secret spices.
While the boat anchors for an hour, you will have the option to snorkel, swim or paddleboard. All equipment is included. Then you will set sail for Playa Tamarindo, enjoying the amazing sunset and arrive back on the beach just before dark, around 6:00pm

A must when in Tamarindo. Great staff and captain. Open bar and very well done food to make the day a 5 star. Real value proposition.
Antares Sailing is a wonderful tour with excellent staff, really excellent. A few minor issues or details, getting to the boat is not easy. For my group we had no issues, but if you are traveling with anyone with any physical disabilities. You first get into a small dingy and then go out to the hot, having to climb a ladder. My cruise was good, except that they overbooked due to issues he day before. The boat was packed with 75 people. Despite this, the cruise was still very enjoyable and the staff incredibly accommodating!
This was a fun cruise and had some good food with good music. We didn't get to see a whole lot while snorkeling, and my friend got pretty sea sick, so be conscious that this might be hard for those who are prone to that sort of thing. The sunset views were the best part though!
This was a great day trip! The weather was perfect, very hot on the beach so very refreshing to be on the sail boat! Live music, unlimited drinks and delicious food served throughout whole trip! Im a 62 female traveling solo and felt very comfortable! Highly recommended!
Highly recommend this as an option for a boating trip. The crew is very friendly and serve a delicious selection of food. They are not stingy with the open bar. We went with our family which included young kids and it was great for them. There are not too many people on the boat and the atmosphere is pretty chill. They had someone playing the guitar and singing live music in the background and she had an very relaxing voice. There is not much to see when you go snorkelling, so if that is what you are looking for, this trip is not for you. They have plenty of life jackets, flippers and noodles to use in the water. Toward the end of the ride, they stop the boat and you enjoy an incredible sunset.
The Antares is a wonderful ship to use for this superb cruise and it was great fun with a really good crowd. The crew were so helpful and the food was exceptional with plenty and variety of beverages flowing. Great stop for snorkelling and swimming with good time to enjoy it and obviously a memorable sunset to finish off the day. NB: Our actual trip was cancelled when we turned up and had to go the following day and as you go at 1245/1330 it kind of kills off your day. As the actual day of the cruise was our final day we had to cancel other things as we had paid for this upfront - we know other travellers were notified and that was frustrating. 5 star for the cruise and 1 star for viator.
Very Relaxing. A bit crowded, but can spread out, get comfortable. Everyone friendly. No life vests visible. Please know that safety not to US standards. Snorkeling not great, relax in water Instead. Drinks awesome, but served 4 courses not 6. Relaxed checkin. Sign on beach would be helpful.
The cruise was very enjoyable. The crew/serving staff were friendly and extremely attentive. The food was excellent. The portions were small but spread out well and you did not stuff yourself. The boat's operators made you feel like you were guests in their home and not just paying customers.
This was the most amazing trip, and I think the highlight of my week in Tamarindo! The welcoming atmosphere, the charming staff, the food, drinks, live music, and the comfy beanbags all made for the most relaxing outing. I loved jumping of the side of this beautiful schooner into the ocean, and swimming to shore - so romantic, right!? We even got lucky and saw a double rainbow! There were many families and couples on the cruise, and even though I was traveling alone, I felt a part of the group and camaraderie. Captain Hermes and his wife, and chef, Candy, made certain to consider my life-threatening food allergies, made certain that my food was safe. Candy even made me a separate dish for one of the courses. Next summer I want to do their full moon cruise!
The trip was wonderful. Magical crew that is committed to making everyone have a time. Food and drinks were fantastic.
The food was amazing!!! The drinks were never ending and the views and snorkeling was a blast. The crew was very attentive and willing to provide any special request. The boat ride was a little rocky but that is to be expected with the ocean. The live music was a fun treat as well.
There are several sailing tours in Tamarindo. I booked the Antares because of the Gourmet food they were supposed to cook on the trip. Well, upon arrival at the meeting point we were told that they were not sailing that day and did not offer any other explanation and they sent us to one of the other tour operators as our only option. Basically we went on the same tour just on a different boat. The trip was OK, but not excellent. my main complaint is that they did not have enough food for all the people that had been boarded on the boat and they were not that many. It was the Blue Dolphin not listed on Viator. So I feel let down by the Antares tour company for dumping us on something we had not booked no matter the reason. We were not given the option we were 4 people. It was take it or lose your money. Viator should remove this company from your listings.
This was a perfect way to spend the afternoon in Tamarindo. I will say that we tried to eat lunch at Nogui's beforehand and wound up leaving our food to get to the meet-up spot at 12:30 only to wait another hour before we boarded the boat. That was the only downside to the entire day. You'll want to get a spot near the back in the shade. The musician was a great bonus! Sailing was smooth and the views were incredible. Highly recommend the tour--just realize that it doesn't leave the beach right at 12:30.
The tour was much better than expected. The crew was friendly and eager to bring you all that you wanted. The food was delicious and the live music really set a relaxed tone for tour. There was a chance to go snorkeling but the waters were filled with jellyfish so we just floated on the waves. On our way back we had a chance to have a little dance party and then a gorgeous view of the sunset. Would definitely do this tour again when coming back to Tamarindo.
Wow!!! A must do while in Tamarindo. Great crew, food and free flowing drinks! Truly, a memorable afternoon while in Costa Rica.
Great tour. Food was outstanding and delicious. Drinks constant. Friendly crew
Absolutely recommend this cruise. Warm and welcoming crew! Amazing, delicious, creative food served in small portions throughout the day. Open bar and a very willing service staff. What makes it fabulous is that the owner and her family are the crew and the service and they treat it like a family affair. Live music, relaxing sail, fun snorkeling. A must do in Tamarindo! Highest recommendation!
This was an enjoyable, relaxing tour. I was a bit disappointed that we didn't go under sail at all. We only motored out of the harbor and back, with no sails. The five course dinner was well done - ample portions and delicious. The drinks were bottomless and there was a great variety. The wine, beer, punch were all nicely chilled. My husband has seafood allergies and he was readily accommodated. The crew was fantastic, personable, and hard-working, but the Captain seemed to be more into his cell phone than anything. He drove the boat in between texts, I guess. We were allowed a brief - but adequate - stop for snorkeling or water-play and one of the crew members paddle-boarded among us there were 29 guests on board and I think that was at capacity to assist if needed. We were never very far from land and we had an absolutely amazing sunset as we came back to anchor. Two things to be aware of: 1 The beach pick-up location is said to be at El Pescador Restaurant, but it is now closed with no signage, so we had to do a lot of asking to find out where to get picked up and 2 On board the boat, you sit on the deck on bean-bag style chairs or foam pads - no chairs or tables... so, dress totally casual.
