Good for people use to Hike cause a lot of up and Down the mountain , overall nice adventure , beautiful blue river and water fall.
Our entire tour was excellent from beginning to end. Can't complaint and will definitely do it again. Natives Way definitely has the best tour guides in Tamarindo,CR
Paul was an amazing tour guide who went out of his way to make sure we saw monkeys, sloths, and toucans. The waterfall at Llanos de Cortes was beautiful and the water was nice but not nearly beautiful as the rainforest at Tenorio Volcano National Park. The hike in Rio Celeste was about 2 1/2 hours with hundreds of steps and rough terrain. It was muddy and the rain boots 4 were not at all comfortable to hike around in for that length. If you do any other hiking or plan on doing so on this or other trips, I would highly recommend purchasing some hiking boots with ankle support to save your feet some pain afterwards. Would highly recommend this excursion as it was an amazing experience. Just be prepared for a long, tiring but well worth it hike/day.
The drive to the rainforest was long. It took 2.5-3 hours to get there from tamarindo. The hike at the rainforest was extremely muddy which didn't bother us. it actually added to the experience. Fortunately, boots were part of the tour or else it would have been miserable. The hike was about 2 hours up and back. We didn't see one single animal which was very disappointing. We saw the waterfall but you're not able to swim in it. On the way back, we went to the 2nd waterfall, however, we arrived too late. It closes at 3:00 so our guide asked some locals if there is another entrance. There was and what was supposed to be a 20 minute walk told to us by the locals, turned into a 40 minute walk through the woods. We eventually ended up there and it was very beautiful. we started walking back before sunset and we found out later that the reason the park closes early is because they want all tourists out of there before sunset because the locals come down and rob and tourists that are still out after sunset. We should have stopped at the 2nd waterfall first since it was on the way to the rainforest.
My friend and I did this tour together and we had a lovely experience. Our tour guide was fabulous so nice! Our first stop was Llanos de Cortes waterfall where you can swim and this waterfall was beautiful. The water felt nice, and you even get to go around to the other side of the waterfall, where you can swim in a little private waterhole, which was gorgeous. The water is much warmer over there, too. We stayed there about an hour, then headed towards Rio Celeste. The drive was a bit far, but what I loved about it was you got to see the lush side to Costa Rica. We were staying in Guanacaste, so it was much dryer, a little desert looking. On this side of Costa Rica it felt like Costa Rica. So green!! Our tour guide did a wonderful job at stopping along the way to show us sloths, toucans, and anything else that he thought we'd like. The hike we did to get to Rio Celeste was long approx 2 hours, at least for our group but so worth it. The waterfall there is AMAZING. You can't swim in it, due to the Sulfur, but just looking at it is worth it. There are LOTS of stairs during the hike, it was muddy, and a little slippery. I wouldn't say the hike is 'hard', but it isn't 'easy' either. We got a work out in to say the least. The place we had lunch at after the tour was so good too. I was starving, so I would have liked the portions to be bigger, but oh well. I'd definitely recommend this tour, unless you hate hiking/walking.
Great full day of hiking, waterfalls, local cuisine and wildlife. Our guide, Paul, stopped numerous times while driving to point out tucans and sloths in trees and was very knowledgeable on Costa Rica culture. Had great weather and a good time.
The most disappointing aspect of this tour was our ride to get to and from the park. From Flamingo Resort it was over 3 hours. The tour wasn't as clearly organized as what was described on the website. It was implied we would spend two hours hiking to the waterfall. We probably didn't even hike 2 hours TOTAL. The trails were super muddy - you should definitely rent the mud boots 4 each We did see some hikers with tennis shoes on but they were sorry they wore them! The path is somewhat hilly with several areas of steps, The entire hike we did not see one animal. We did see a sloth on our drive out of the park. The driver stopped so we could get out and take pictures, that was pretty exciting. The waterfall where we could get in and swim was about a 20-30 minute drive to the area where we hiked to the big, blue waterfall. It just seemed like we spent a lot of time in the van compared to the amount of time spent actually hiking/swimming. The lunch was at the end of the tour.
Waterfall was beautiful, although not as blue as the website pictures.
This was a fun hike. They rated it a 7 but I would say it was more like a 5 for us but we did not go on a trail that was suppose to be a lot harder. We went and saw the beautiful waterfall but because it was raining and no sun was out, it was not as pretty as it could be. We walked through a beautiful rain forest and they rented us rubber boots for 4 and that is definitely needed. We could splash through the mud puddles and not have to worry about it. Our shoes were saved because we had the boots. It was very muddy with mud being about 1 foot high. We walked back to the start and then they drove us to a place where we had a wonderful lunch. After that we went to another local hiking place where there was another waterfall where we could swim in the water and through the waterfall. This was a beautiful waterfall also.
This was the most amazing experience! Our guide Claudio was absolutely fantastic! He was full of information and took very good care of us the entire time. I thought the pictures were exaggerated but this water is actually that blue. Kudos to Native's Way team for everything. Morgan helped me out a lot too, I was staying a bit out of town and arranged my pick up in a place that wasn't on their pick up list. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
We had a small group of 4 people including us. The driver Paul was great and went out of his way to find monkeys, tucans, sloths for us. Bring rainboots for the Rio Celeste tour because it gets really muddy.
Tour was awesome! Orlando showed us cool spots (esp for pics) and pointed out lots of creatures on our hike. Beautiful waterfalls. Definitely something you need to do while in Costa Rica.
We had a great tour! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and treated us very hospitably. The hike what I would call a moderate hike through Rio Celeste, but the sights were beautiful. Overall a great day and we were very happy we booked it. We did stop for breakfast in the morning...which we were unsure of at first. All in all, though, the guide was very accommodating to our wishes!
INCREDIBLE!!!!! Both Llanos de Cortez and Rio Celeste Waterfalls are absolutely amazing. We saw sloths on the Rio Celeste hike that wasn't too easy and not too hard. The guide Juan Carlos was full of information and I learned so much about the culture of Costa Rica and the conservation efforts. :)
