Our guide Carlos was amazing! We all had such a great time during the tour with everybody in the car. He explained all about the tequila process on the way to the village and fun facts. If you choose this tour, definitely ask for Carlos! :
I ended up doing this tour 1 day early. We were only 2 ppl and the guide so we got to travel by car. The tour was great, we stopped by an agave field, saw the plants at different levels of maturity and then we got to visit the Jose Cuervo Tequileria Mundo Cuervo. The tour was really good and the Cuervo Guide was super friendly and answered all the questions people had we were mixed with other tours there. We got to try the baked agave, and up to 7 different tequila I tasted 6 myself.
Afterwards, we went to eat own expense we picked the market and got to try a birria de res and a cantarito we paid 105 pesos. e ten went to one of the stores in town, got to try more tequila from a different tequileria, and we ended up with 1h free time in the town of Tequila.
From past reviews, I think this specific tour offers different tequileria depending on the day you visit, but I'm sure that no matter which site you visit, it's well worth the price.
Great fun tour with Edgar! We were able to walk amongst the agave plants in the fields, tour the Jose Cuervo factory and have lunch in the Tequila town market. We went to another distillery in Tequila as well. We had a great time on this tour!
Magical town Tequila. We visited the Cuervo distillery and it was very informative insightful and not to mention the Tequila tastings were awesome!
Walking though the small town plaza, eating a garrafa ice cream was great.
Also make sure you visit the Museo De Los Abuelos nice history lesson on the town's important people.
Amigo Tours was the tour operator and they made us feel great, Eduardo was very attentive and really went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and taken care of.
Highly recommended tour.
Value for money trip. Our driver Roman and translator/guide Asahel were very helpful. A good experience.
Highly recommend this tour and the lake chapala tour!Ramón was very knowledgeable and wonderful overall! We had more than enough time to enjoy ourselves throughout the town and had choices along the way on our tour.He didn't decide for us, he knew a lot of people in the area also so we felt comfoetable
Great tour and a fantastic driver name Edgar! If you enjoy tequila, you will certainly enjoy learning about the agave plant and distillery process in this very charming town called Tequila, in Mexico.
My two friends and I were visiting from the US and found this tour group through Trip Advisor. The team was utmost professional, punctual, and quite friendly. They come pick you up at your Guadalajara hotel and you can identify them by their shirts with 'Amigo Tours' branding. We were a bit nervous as we had forgotten to confirm / follow-up about details with the office beforehand but everything went quite smoothly. Our tour guide was absolutely awesome, spoke great English, and took care of us around separately from the Spanish-only tour group.
This tour also has a good combination of structure and free time! You have a lot of leeway to decide what you want to do once you reach the town of Tequila and finish the main distillery tour.
Amazing day! Our guide Ronnie an agave rancher himself! picked us up on time at our hotel and drove us to Tequila to visit an artisanal distillery and the Casa Sauza distillery. Ronnie was extremely knowledgeable with wonderful insight on Tequila production, agave ranching and the town of Tequila. We had so much fun with Ronnie that we requested him for our next day's tour to Lake Chapala . Highly recommend this Viator tour and Ronnie!
This tour was amazing! My tour guide was on time. It turns out to be a small tour groupme plus this wonderful older couple from St Louis.
The whole tour felt very personal and our tour guide was very knowledgable. Tour included visiting two tequila distilleries, one from the big guysin our case Casa Souza, and a boutique one.
My husband came for business and I wanted to see the town of Tequila so booked this tour. Edgar greeted me on time and I scored as had a private tour for the day! I felt totally comfortable and safe!!! We stopped for pictures in agave field and in front of the Volcano. He waited while I took the Suaza tequila tour done in English by Rafael. Great time and planted an agave plant, watched how they harvest them and did some tasting. Even tried the 68 proof : After the tour we walked the town of tequila and had lunch in a food court that only locals new. Great day and many questions answered, thanks Edgar!!!
This trip in GUADALAJARA is handled by an agency in MEXICO CITY.
Here's a tip: They don't know what is going on.
When I booked my trip, I asked when would our pick up time be. A lady told me it would be at 6:30 AM. Being mexican and knowing that Tequila is not that far from Guadalajara, I asked her to double check that, and sure enough she told me it was 9 AM. She also told me the help line as 24/7 and that I could ask for the driver's name the day of the trip.
Fast forward to the day of the trip, 9 AM. The driver hasn't shown up to the pick up point, and I am reading the agency's amigo tours facebook and google ratings. It is full of negative reviews. I call again, and ask for my driver's name and location. Firstly, the guy couldn't even find our booking through the reference number. Finally, when he found it after around 10 minutes on the line, he told me that the driver's name was Eduardo and that he was delayed.
Well now it was 9:15 and I just wanted to know how much more time I had to wait, or if the tour was going to happen at all.
He said to give him 15 minutes. And we did. But then when I called again at 9:30 AM, another lady answered the phone and told me my driver hadn't departed and that the pickup starts at 10 AM.
Our driver arrived at 9:45, his name wasn't Eduardo it was oscar and we learned that he actually has 1 hour to pickup the tour guests. Starting from 9 AM to around 10 AM. So, nothing we were told by the agency was true. We were blatantly lied to.
The driver/tour guy was very nice, which is the only thing that saved the tour. The distillery itself was cool, but we weren't allowed to take any pictures. This makes no sense. You are already allowing tourists to go inside. Let them take pictures of how tequila is made.
Overall, I'd say pick another agency, because even if you get a cool tour guide such as Oscar, you are going to have a bad time over the phone. And prepare to not take pictures.
A very enjoyable tour!!!
I had signed up for the English-speaking tour, but evidently this did not get passed on, as when I got to the distillery the guide and everybody in the group were not English-speakers, and was told that the tour would be in Spanish. But I was then given an English-speaking guide, for a one-to-one tour which was GREAT!!! The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and personable, and fun. She made for a great tour!!!
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who's visiting Guadalajara and is interested in tequila!!!
The tour guide was 15 minutes late which we understood given the traffic, but a call letting us know he was on his way would have been appreciated .
The Sauza tour was excellent! The guide there was knowledges and friendly.
tje place the guide took us for lunch had terrible food.
Edgar was very attentive and very professional. The Herradura distillery and the town of Tequila was worth visiting. It's one of Mexico's magical cities and it is simply beautiful.
