Anquinette was our fabulous guide on this tour. She is a native of St. Croix who studied in America and returned to the island. She is an incredible wealth of knowledge not only about the food but also the island and its rich history. We stopped at 6 restaurants where we learned about and tasted authentic dishes of the area. The variety of foods was outstanding! We had everything from a main meal to desserts and delicious drinks. Our personal favorite was the visit to the Ital, a vegan friendly restaurant. Our outing ended with fabulous ice cream, made on the island for 180 years, in a gorgeous park.
We took a group taxi from the ship to the city. It was 32 for two people, round trip and the ride is about 35 minutes.
My husband and I would highly recommend this trip those who not only like history but food as well.
Anquanette was amazing. She was very informative, personable and professional. Each place we went on our tour was excellent. The best way to find out about the local cuisine. At the same time, we had a great history lesson about the St Croix's past. I would highly recommend the tour.
My boyfriend and I visited St. Croix for the first time in February of 2017. We signed up for the food tour and it was a great experience!! Q, our guide, was wonderful. I loved how she infused the history of St. Croix into the food tour. It gave you a better understanding of the types of food you were trying and how they were significant to the Cruzan people. She took us to some really neat places that we would never have discovered on our own. I loved the treats from the little bakery as well as the sour orange drink sweetened with honey. I would definitely recommend this tour! Bon Appetit.
Highly recommend this tour for every first time visitor to St. Croix. Although we were expecting just a food tour, Q very nicely weaved history, religion, culture and architecture into the presentation. Great tour!
