Itinerary

The Huvsgul Lake National Park is part of the transition zone of the Siberian taiga and Central Asian Steppes. Darkhad valley is the one of the most wonderful areas of Mongolia where you can find beautiful rivers and lakes. Inhabitants are mainly Darkhad (whom the valley"s name derives from), and also some Tsaatan. Tsaatan (Dukha people), one of the last nomadic reindeer herders in the world, live in the depths of taiga. Shamanism is the religion of choice in these parts, we will visit all the sites and cultural places in Khuvsgul province. Khuvsgul Lake is known as Great natural beauty and wilderness. It is located in northern Mongolia and surrounded by steppes, along with deep Taiga forests bordering Siberia (Sayan Mountains) and Tuva. Khuvsgul is the most voluminous, the freshest and deepest lake in Mongolia. It holds almost 70% of Mongolia's fresh water and 0.4% of all the fresh water in the world. Over 46 streams pour into Khuvsgul Lake and It is drained at the south end by the Egiin Gol, which connects to the Selenge and ultimately into Lake Baikal.
