Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is often described as “life changing”. Rwanda is one of only three countries in the world where the critically endangered mountain gorillas live. Rwanda's most popular National Park, Volcanoes National Park (Parc National de Volcans” or PNV as it’s known by locals) on the slopes of the Virunga mountain range is famous for rich biodiversity and home to Mountain Gorillas. We will take you there!

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda

Pass By: Kigali Genocide Memorial, KG 14 Ave, Kigali Rwanda
Our staff will pick you up from the airport and drive you to the hotel where you will spend a night and prepare for the road trip to Volcanoes National Park the next day.

Day 2: Travel from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

Stop At: Volcanoes National Park, Musanze Kinigi, Ruhengeri Rwanda
You will start the journey to Volcanoes National Park at 10:00am. An optional free tour to Rwanda Genocide Memorial can be organized before you start the road trip to Volcanoes National Park. You will arrive in Volcanoes National Park in the afternoon.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Stop At: Volcanoes National Park, Musanze Kinigi, Ruhengeri Rwanda
After an early breakfast at your hotel, we will proceed directly to the Volcanoes National Park's headquarters to meet your guides. After completing the briefing, you'll embark on the once in a lifetime experience of tracking the enigmatic mountain gorillas.

There is no guarantee how long or difficult your tracking experience will be as it depends on where the family of gorillas is and on weather conditions, It can take anywhere from two up to six hours of trekking through the mountain forest at relatively high altitudes. Fitness is definitely recommended for those wishing to undertake the excursion.

One of the most memorable experiences you're likely to ever have, you'll be allowed an hour of close contact with the gorillas once you've found them. You'll come within few metres of a family of these rare and beautiful animals, observing their family dynamics and getting to learn a bit about each gorilla's distinct personality in serene silence.

Day 4: End of Gorilla Trekking Safari

Stop At: Kigali Arts Center, 44 KG 654 St, Kigali Rwanda
You will check out of the lodge after breakfast and return to Kigali for your onward flight.
