It’s not hard to find somewhere to eat in Hong Kong, but not all eateries are made equal. Fortunately, our guide knows every tucked away cafe, eatery and street food joint that’s worthy of a visit. Hit the foodie scene running on our epic Hong Kong food tour that will take you on a journey through lunchtime, traditional teatime and dinner in some of the most delicious spots in Old Kowloon.
On this truly small-group tour limited to just 8 exclusive guests you’ll visit more than 10 foodie spots and try over 15 different snacks, dishes and drinks. Start with things like spicy Cantonese fish balls, award-winning fried tofu with spicy dipping sauces and truffle-filled pork dumplings.
En route, your guide will take you to a fruit market to try exotic mangosteens and a local seafood market, both perfect places to score some Hong Kong snaps.
Teatime is big in Hong Kong and your guide will take you into one of the best authentic cha chaan tengs (local tea houses) where you can sit among the bustle of locals. Here, you’ll try things like hot pineapple buns – a HK classic – slathered with cold butter, egg tarts and cold milk tea. Continue to visit historic little bakeries for gluttonous rice balls filled with durian or mango and wrapping cake.
Visit a local eatery known as one of the only places left to make inhouse noodles using traditional bamboo techniques. Top off the evening by diving down a back alley to one of Hong Kong’s last remaining dai pai dong street food joints where you’ll watch dishes like spicy clams being stir-fried in fiery woks and fresh pomfret covered in herbs and black beans steamed before tucking in. Sign off the night with a refreshing tofu pudding and soy bean milk at a tiny eatery you’d just never find alone.
With plenty more surprises along the way, this is the perfect way to learn about the culture, cuisine and history of old Hong Kong and get to grips with some of the best food in the city.
