How to clean an EGR valve<\/h2>\n
Here\u2019s\u00a0how you\u00a0can get the gunk out of an EGR valve:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n
Park the vehicle on a flat surface, switch off the engine, and\u00a0engage\u00a0all brakes.\u00a0Take\u00a0off the negative terminal of your car\u2019s battery.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
The next step is to find the EGR valve in your vehicle. The placement can differ from vehicle to vehicle. Refer to the owner\u2019s manual if you\u2019re confused about it.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
Remove the hoses and other parts of the valve without damaging them. Make sure to swap out the gasket if it\u2019s too worn out. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
Spray the EGR valve cleaner on the carbon deposits and remove them using a pipe cleaner or a wire brush.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
Wipe down once again using a clean cloth.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
Now that the EGR valve is clean, place it back in its original position. If the check engine light on the dashboard remains off, you have successfully cleaned it.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
