Since these three states aren\u2019t part of DLC, they don\u2019t consider out-of-state DUIs.<\/p>\n<p>As per the DLC, most U.S states, excluding Michigan, Georgia, and Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia, must share evidence related to license suspensions and traffic of non-resident drivers. The principle of DLC is that all traffic violations remain attributed to a driver, irrespective of where they happen, so that the driving record remains constant in all states.<\/p>\n<p>Though Michigan, Georgia, and Wisconsin don\u2019t count out-of-state DUIs, you should be aware that a driver\u2019s license isn\u2019t guaranteed when you move to these states with a DUI. The states will examine your driving history and reject your application if your license has been suspended in any other state.<\/p>\n<h2>How do states use out-of-state DUI information?<\/h2>\n<p>If you get prosecuted for a DUI or any other offense, the judge will likely consider all your previous convictions. For instance, imagine you resided in Alabama for three years and got three DUIs. Then you move to California and get convicted of DUI again in the next year. The California law will charge you with a felony for getting four DUIs within any 10 years.
