So, you’ve got a day for all the San Francisco things to do? It’s better to slim down your itinerary and pick out a few must-visit places in San Francisco. Not an easy one, is it? The Golden City has so much to offer!

While planning your San Franciso day tour, don’t forget to factor in the time needed to travel between your stops. Riding the San Francisco cable car could be part of your tour, but relying on public transport isn’t the best fit for your tight schedule. Traffic in the city doesn’t get as hectic as in LA or NYC; so, driving around is a good option. However, parking in San Francisco is what you need to be prepared for. Street parking could be an option for quick stops, but keeping track of timings and restrictions is an unnecessary hassle. There are several San Francisco parking garages and lots in and around the city, where you can leave your vehicle without worrying about safety and parking violations.

It’s best to book your parking space in advance to save time. Check out the options on way.com or California Parking for affordable parking near these must-visit places in San Francisco.

Fisherman’s Warf & North Beach

Time’s ticking, so be an early bird and reach the Fisherman’s Warf at the crack of dawn. You’ll be rewarded by the sight of sea lions lounging around Pier 39. Take a walk along the waterfront, and then head on to North Beach for breakfast.

Golden Gate Bridge

It’s best to add the Golden Gate Bridge to the morning schedule of your San Francisco Day tour. On a clear day, you can catch views up to the East Bay from the bridge. Walking across the bridge can eat into your time; it’s almost a 2-mile walk one-way!

Golden Gate Park

A short drive away, the Golden Gate Park awaits with gardens, groves, lakes, and more. A day might not be enough to explore the 1,017-acre urban park. Narrow down your points of interest and pick at least one or two must-see attractions. The Bison Paddock, the Japanese Tea Garden, the Conservatory of Flowers, San Francisco Botanical Garden, and the Windmills are worth visiting.

Union Square & Chinatown

Downtown San Francisco is busy pretty much any time of the day. To get the most out of your time here, book your parking space at one of Pine Street or Bush Street garages. California Parking garage at 530 Turk Street also offers flexible parking reservations you can use to save a couple of dollars on your parking space. Walk up to Union Square and explore the plaza. Keep walking and head to the Dragon’s Gate and enter Chinatown. Shop, eat, take pics, and catch a free tour of the Fortune Cookie Factory at 56 Ross Alley.

Alcatraz Island

You’ll need at least half a day to take the ferry, look around, and get back — so, choose wisely. If you must do it, reserve ahead for the tour and schedule it for the evening. Plenty of parking spaces are available near the pier; make sure you book in advance to avoid last-minute delays.
