What to See 

AKC Museum of the Dog owns one of the largest collections of canine art, including paintings and sculptures. The museum features rotating exhibits from its 1700-piece art collection and a library of 4000 volumes. High-tech interactive exhibits are also part of the museum experience these days.

Are dogs allowed in the Museum of the Dog? 

Only service dogs can accompany their owners during regular museum hours (11 am – 6 pm). Other dogs invited for demonstrations may be present at the museum. However, the museum organizes two Furry Friday dog-friendly after-hours events monthly. Dogs and their people are invited to attend; you may book tickets in advance.  

How much are AKC Museum of the Dog tickets? 

NYC Museum of the Dog tickets cost $13 for adults and $5 for kids between three and twelve. Seniors (over 65 years of age) and Youth/Students (18-24 years of age) need to pay only $10. Active Military/Veteran and ADA/Accessible tickets are also $10.

You can buy tickets at the museum or pre-register online on the official website. All ticket recipients in your group must be present when buying tickets or redeeming online bookings onsite.

Museum of the Dog is open from 11 am to 6pm, Wednesday to Sunday. Timings for after-hour events and other special programs vary.

The Museum of the Dog in New York is in Midtown Manhattan’s Murray Hill neighborhood. The address is 101 Park Ave, but the museum entrance is on E 40th Street. How to Get There 

AKC Museum of the Dog is well-connected by the NYC subway. Grand Central Station is only a block from the Kalikow Building and is served by S, 4, 5, 6, and 7 trains.  

Bus stops on Lexington Avenue, and other cross streets near the museum are also within walking distance. Airport shuttles from JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark also stop on 41st Street. 

You can also drive to the AKC Museum of the Dog; it’s around 10 minutes from Central Park and 15 minutes from Lower Manhattan. Limited parking is available at the onsite garage below the museum. But as it is not an official museum parking lot, parking rates can be quite high due to demand from other visitors to the Kalikow building. You’ll find plenty of alternative parking lots in the neighborhood.
