The Brooklyn Nets have been playing their home games at the Barclays Center since 2012 when they relocated to the NYC borough from New Jersey. However, the franchise’s history goes back to 1967, and they won two ABA championships (1974 and 1976) while based in Long Island as the New York Nets.

Though the Nets are yet to win a championship title, they made back-to-back NBA Finals appearances in 2002 and 2003. They also have four division titles – 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006. After moving to Brooklyn, the team got seven playoff berths and made it to the Eastern Conference Semifinals twice – in 2014 and 2021.

Last season (2021-22), the Brooklyn Nets finished fourth in the Atlantic Division with 44 wins from 82 games (.537). However, they lost to the Boston Celtics 0-4 in the first round of playoffs.

Barclays Center is in the heart of Brooklyn – near the Atlantic Terminal, at Flatbush and Atlantic avenues. The arena opened in the summer of 2012 when the Nets relocated from New Jersey. It can seat up to 17,732 fans for basketball games. In addition, the space includes 101 suites and has room for several clubs, bars, lounges, and other meeting areas.

The first NBA event at the Barclays Center was a preseason game between the Nets and Wizards on October 15, 2012. The home team later beat the Raptors 107-100 at their first regular season game on November 3, 2012.

The Brooklyn Nets share their multi-purpose arena with the WNBA team New York Liberty. Barclay Center is also a popular venue for concerts and other special events. The arena also hosts the NBA draft event, and the NBA All-Star Weekend was held here in 2015.

Is there parking at Barclays Center?

Barclays Center does not have an on-site parking facility. So, you’re on your own with Brooklyn Nets gameday parking! No need to worry; there are plenty of garages and lots in the neighborhood. However, finding an affordable and safe parking spot close to the arena during basketball season is challenging.

There’s a valet stand at 630 Atlantic Avenue, but it won’t be cheap. Parking garages in the neighborhood charge up to $60 or more, depending on the demand and availability. Drive-up rates in NYC are unpredictable and often too high. Meanwhile, street parking may seem the best alternative, but there’s no guarantee you’ll find a vacant spot next to the arena on game day.

A pre-booked garage space is the best choice for Brooklyn Nets parking near Barclays Center. Now you can make online reservations; most NYC garages have special rates and discounts for bookings made in advance. Download a parking app to find the best Brooklyn parking deals for the Nets game.
