Spread the love

Mother’s Day 2020 is right around the corner. There is no doubt that it would obviously be different from the usual celebrations, as the coronavirus epidemic continues to disrupt ordinary life. However, the current situation should not be a reason for not celebrating the special day dedicated to all the mothers out there. You can still find plenty of ideas to celebrate the special day with your mom. There are still ways to procure gifts like how you did last year, and if you are not able to find the gift you want online – you can always consider making one instead if it’s possible. Plus, it’s not that gifts are always necessary as mothers know how much you love and appreciate them without explaining a single word. Giving back time and gratitude does not cost anything. The coronavirus epidemic, along with lockdowns and work from home, etc. has made it possible to always have extra time on hand. If you are planning to purchase a gift from online e-commerce portals like Amazon, keep in mind that deliveries will probably be delayed. Plan well ahead, and if you still don’t have an idea on what to gift your mom for Mother’s Day 2020, check out this list for some alternate suggestions and ideas.

Order Online Deliveries Well in Advance

If your plan involves getting flowers and your mother’s favorite chocolates, it would be a good idea to consider an early delivery date. Waiting until the last moment, or even up to the weekend, could turn out to be a disaster. Only take the gamble if you have a backup gift. As of now, we are still going through the after-effects of COVID-19, and nothing is guaranteed. Florists are also not operating full-time due to the lockdown and movement restrictions, and delivery executives can always be forced to take longer detoursor may not be available for deliveries. If you still want to gift a red rose, try procuring a vase and follow some of the Do it Yourself (DIY) video tutorials to preserve flowers safely for up to a week at home.

Surprise her with a Breakfast in Bed

Mothers Day Breakfast

It has to be a secret desire for all mothers to enjoy food made by their children. Trust me, no gifts can bring so much happiness to a mother than waking up to a breakfast prepared by her son or daughter on Mother’s Day. It is also one of the best ways to show gratitude for all the struggles they had when you were that annoying child, who was always tucked to her arms. In a time when procuring a cake can be a daunting task, you can bake one at the comfort of your home, and it can be made from the four walls of your home’s kitchen. It also helps save a lot of money that can be further used to buy some chocolates and candles to complete the Mother’s Day vibe at your home.

Handwritten Letters Always Brings a Smile

Mother's Day Handwritten

Your mother and father would probably be the two people in the entire world to actually go through your first handwritten letter (which would possibly be a gibberish scribbling of broken letters and symbols). They were always there to see you grow, and regardless of how old you are now, a handwritten note will always bring back tons of memories and emotions. A letter will always take your mom back to the good old days, to your childhood, your first words scribbled onto walls, and old notebooks. They would feel so proud to see how you have grown up. Letters are also strong reminders to both our mothers and us that regardless of how much we grow, we will always be their little child, and they will always be there for us. To make things even more exciting, you can consider surprising them with the letter being placed as a good morning note.

Take Over the Home and Pamper Them with Love

Mother's Day Cooking

Another easy gift to give your mother if you are in the same house is to surprise them with a household takeover. Set your alarm clock earlier than usual and make sure you wake up before them. Cook breakfast, and if your mom is someone like mine who is head over heels in love with coffee, prepare that too. Set up the breakfast tray before she wakes up and wait it out to make your mom have a genuinely unexpected surprise like never before. You don’t necessarily have to be a Master Chef to cook food as there are plenty of easy recipes with various DIY tutorials available on the internet today. Stay at home moms spent most of the time sanitizing the home as they are always never completely confident that it is safe for their children. Take over the cleaning duty as well and let her have a day off where she can be lazy and watch tv all day long.

A Virtual Vacation From Home

Virtual Vacation at Home

For some families, Mother’s Day means a family trip somewhere that Mom would want. This year, those plans or traditions may be dashed but it doesn’t have to be fully gone! Try taking a virtual vacation at some of the most popular destinations in the world, or take a virtual trip at places you probably wouldn’t be able to go to, such as the Moon. You can get mom a simple VR headset that works with her phone, or get a dedicated headset for more experiences. Gift mom a full on stay-cation, and travel the world from the safety of her home.

Still Not Sure on What to Gift Her?

Mothers Day 3

You can still go for gift shops if that’s what you have been planning till now. While it was a more comfortable choice, the outbreak of coronavirus disease has put the world on a standstill. So heading out for a gift is still a 50/50 gamble that could swing any way, for both online and offline purchases. From running empty stocks to closed shops, the issues are plentiful. Based on what your mom likes, you can consider purchasing the gift or try and make that at home by yourself, or by someone who does. There are plenty of artists and entrepreneurs who work from home to create a wide range of products, which may include what you are looking for. If you have to go outside to your local shops or malls, plan ahead and reserve a parking space in advance. Since spas are locked down indefinitely, why not buy a spa kit and bring the spa experience to your mother instead? There are spa-kits available online, or you can also buy individual products. Another easy thing you can do is to check out some of the easy manicure and pedicure DIY tutorials and provide home treatment for your mothers. An alternate that does not cost much is to make a slideshow – if you have the basics of video making mastered, you can pretty much DIY, if not, you can always go for applications like Quikstory by GoPro and Inshot apps which are both free. Several paid apps will make the videos for you.  For the moms who love to read, there are bookstores like bookshop.org, who ship books to the desired address. Many readers have also put their digital collections online as public google drive links that can be accessed by anyone and everyone.

At the end of the day, what matters the most is the time you spend with your mother on their special day.

Still can’t find what you’re looking for? Make an online booking now or reserve your parking spot through our iOS or Android apps!
