According to the Hartsfield -Jackson Atlanta International Airport website, mandatory COVID testing requirements are no longer in place at Atlanta Airport. This is in line with the CDC directive in June. The CDC has rescinded the directive mandating a negative COVID-19 test prior to flights into the United States. Therefore, starting June 12, 2022, travelers will no longer be required to present a COVID-19 test result. They also need not present documentation of recovery from COVID-19 prior to boarding a trip to the U.S.

The impact of COVID testing on air travel

The mandate that travelers have a negative test before they can board an airplane bound for the United States had an adverse impact on travel. According to experts working in the travel industry, it was a major reason for the increasing number of people who don’t want to travel internationally.

There were concerns among Americans regarding the possibility of contracting the virus when traveling abroad. They would have to remain in quarantine for a period of one week or more if their test results were positive.

But then the number of fatal Coronavirus cases declined and restrictions eased. So it was only a matter of time before this order was rescinded.

Mask mandate

Earlier, the Transport Security Administration (TSA) had announced that beginning on April 18, 2022, it will no longer enforce its Security Directives and Emergency Amendment that require the use of masks on public transportation and in transportation hubs. Currently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises that those traveling indoors on public transportation should wear masks.
