Travel has again opened up after the COVID pandemic travel restrictions. But travelers have had to contend with a new normal. This is especially true when for air travel. This leaves passengers at airports like Miami Airport wondering what the current COVID testing regulations are. They also need to know if they can get tested at the airport. Here’s what we know about Miami Airport Covid testing.
Does Miami Airport require COVID testing?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) no longer requires air passengers traveling from a foreign country to the United States to show documentation of recovery from COVID-19 or a negative COVID-19 viral test before boarding their flight.
The rule that mandated COVID tests was rescinded and came into effect on June 12, 2022, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time (ET).
According to a senior administration source, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) came to a conclusion “based on the research and evidence” that it was appropriate to relax the limitation. However, the CDC will continue to monitor it on an ongoing basis.
Why were the restrictions lifted?
The airline and travel industry had been pressing for some time for the restrictions to be lifted. According to them, it was discouraging air travel at a time when passengers were showing increasing interest in taking to the skies.
What are the rules for flying into the United States?
Suppose you are not a citizen of the United States, a U.S. national, a lawful permanent resident, or traveling to the United States on an immigrant visa. In that case, you will need to show proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before you travel by air to the United States from a foreign country. This rule applies to nonimmigrants who are not citizens of the United States.
The vaccine must have the approval of the Food and Drug Administration in the United States. Or else the World Health Organization must give it an emergency use listing (such as AstraZeneca). Vaccinations with a combination of doses will also be acceptable. Here you will find the full list of approved vaccines and the acceptable methods for proving that you are vaccinated.
Are masks mandatory at Miami Airport?
Masks are not mandatory at Miami Airport as of now. But travelers who want to stay safe can wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth.
