Since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, international travel has been significantly disrupted. Yes, are gradually resuming travel without constant masking and testing. But there is still a great deal that has changed. Passengers at most airports, including SeaTac, aren’t sure what the current COVID testing requirements are or if they can get tested at the airport.  Here’s what we know about SeaTac COVID Testing.

Do you have a flight leaving Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in the next few weeks? If you’re expecting an empty terminal, you should revaluate your expectations. Even though the kids are already back in school and the leaves have fallen, the airport is still very busy.

Usually, the number of people living in Washington state who leave the state for vacation towards the end of the summer is significantly lower. But, the year 2022 presents a quite different narrative.

According to Perry Cooper, a spokesperson for the Port of Seattle, the airport receives forecasts from airlines for passenger numbers a couple of weeks before flights. According to Cooper, there does not appear to be any significant drop in travel in October thus far.

It is quite likely that this is related to COVID-19. After many years of being homebound, people are becoming increasingly ready to return to the air.

SeaTac COVID Testing Requirements

The state of Washington does not mandate COVID-19 testing for any domestic travel, whether it be inbound or outbound. But we suggest you consult the travel information and guidelines provided by the CDC. This will provide further clarification regarding the quarantine and testing procedures.

Facemask requirement at SeaTac

The Transit Security Administration does not enforce the use of face masks on public transportation or in transportation hubs such as SeaTac. Therefore, masks are not mandatory. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) strongly advises anyone over the age of two to wear an appropriate, well-fitting mask or respirator over their nose and mouth whenever they are inside an enclosed public mode of transportation (such as an airplane, train, bus, or ferry) or a transportation hub (such as airports, stations, and seaports).

Why should you continue to wear masks?

When people correctly put on a respirator or mask that fits them well, they protect themselves and others around them and contribute to the overall safety of travel and public transit for everyone. Therefore, it is highly recommended that those in confined spaces with inadequate ventilation, such as airport jetways, put on a respirator or mask that fits well.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also advises public transit and transportation hub operators to advocate using masks by all individuals. If you would like further information on the masking requirements, please check with both your airline and destination.
